Our son's 2007 Nissan Altima has been a great car—reliable, with 150,300 miles, and only needing minor upkeep to keep him going from point A to point B. A few weeks ago, we had the left caliper replaced, and the team at Bud's was amazing! Fast forward a few weeks, and we noticed another brake issue on the left side. It turned out to be a fluke, but after having our Nissan towed back to Bud's, the owner took my call on Monday morning, just 15 minutes after the shop opened. By that time, they had already diagnosed the issue, ordered the necessary parts, and assured us that the repair would be covered under warranty.
Though the part in question might not have traditionally been covered under warranty, Bud's recognized that it had affected the previous work. They warrantied and replaced everything that had been impacted by the faulty piece, which was a huge relief!
I knew Bud's was different during my last visit for my husband's A/C repair. A gentleman came into the shop to buy lunch for the entire staff from a nice Huxley restaurant and even offered to buy me, a customer in the waiting area, lunch as well. He was so appreciative of the honest work that Dax, Tyler, and the entire team do. That man was a walking billboard for Bud's, and now I am too!

“Car X in Ames is the best car shop I’ve been to. Any problems & they got it. The manager Danny is a down to earth really good person & all the staff are nice people too.
This weekend my car randomly started shaking while accelerating & I brought it in first thing Monday. They were super busy, all bays full getting work done & Danny & a crew member stopped what they were doing to diagnose the problem, which was just a bad wire. They fixed the wire for free since it was a small issue but it really meant a lot they’d stop what they’re doing to help me. Plus, the wire they replaced actually turned off a few other lights of mine that have been bugging me but I wasn’t sure how to turn them off.
Great shop, great people. Car X has my business and I encourage everyone else to take their car maintenance needs there as well ??”

It started running hot again they took it In right away looked it over nothing wrong and explained to us how jeeps run hot. “I'm staying in Ames while my mother is in the hospital here. My regular mechanic is in Chicago. I heard a loud noise coming from under my car every time I went over a speed bump in the hospital parking ramp. Took my car to Macky's and asked if they could look at it. A very nice man immediately came out to the parking lot, looked under my car and was able to fix the problem (heat shield had come loose) in a few minutes. He very nicely explained everything to me, made a recommendation to have my mechanic take a look at it when I get back to Chicago, and I was back on the road with no more funny noises a few minutes later. Great experience--definitely would go back if I had another car problem while in Ames.”
“I can't say enough good about the folks at Freedom Tire!! With both daughters going to ISU, I have worked multiple times with them. Over the last few years, I have put on a set of tires, a complete brake job and numerous oil changes. Today I was moving one daughter 4 hours away to start her career post ISU. We picked up a nail and had a flat right before we were ready to head out. Under the circumstances, they worked us in early and got us back on the road!! “Last week on a Friday afternoon, my son was headed to Ames to pick up his brother to bring him back home. His alternator failed on the highway about 50 miles outside of Ames. I managed to get it towed to En-Tire after talking with Jeff multiple times that afternoon. They were the only shop I could find that was open on Saturday to do the work.
Jeff was so nice in calming down a dad who was freaking out that his kid was going to be stuck all weekend with no car. Jeff managed to get the part first thing Saturday morning, and even stayed a bit past their closing time on Saturday afternoon to get the car working again.
I highly recommend working with these guys.”
