I've had two times now where my cat needed immediate attention for his health, and Animal Kingdom got me in right away! The staff is very kind and considerate and work with you when it comes time to know what your bill will be.

Animal Kingdom is a great place to take your furry friends, the staff are great and helpful through the entire process of taking care of our 2 senior dogs.Cons:- Every time I have been there (4 times in the last 3 months), the pups have seen a different doctor. Not a huge deal but when it comes to continuity of care, information could get lost.- Vets are expensive... So it isn't necessarily a CON only for Animal Kingdom, they have to make money somehow.Pros:- Of the different docs that have seen by pups, they clearly read the files ahead of time and are prepared, they would follow-up with information that only they would know from reading their charts.- Staff truly love animals, they have a cat that chills on the counter and is very comfortable with all the various animals that come in and out.- Facility is clean and doesn't stink of animal pee or poo, they keep the place wiped down and tidy!- Staff and doctors are helpful and answer questions as thoroughly as possible- The doctors followed up with phone calls and I spoke to them personally about care for my pups.- We have now said goodbye to both of our pups with the help and care of AKVCC. The personnel were sweet and compassionate through the entire process. Thanks for caring for our dogs for the last 6 years.

ETA: I wrote this review back when AKVCC was under its previous ownership, with Dr. Ahern. Now that the practice has been bought out by private equity, none of the staff we knew and loved are there anymore, and the vets we loved have all departed. If you'd like to know more about what a private-equity-owned vet clinic will do for you and your pet (spoiler alert: it's not good), listen to the Freakonomics Podcast episodes "Do You Know Who Owns Your Vet?" and "Should you trust private equity to take care of your dog?". I'll summarize it: prices go up dramatically, but pet health outcomes get worse. We have already switched to another vet that is locally owned.===================I can't recommend Animal Kingdom enough. They made a huge positive impression on us when we were in the unfortunate position of putting our beloved cat to sleep. When I called to schedule the appointment, crying, they were compassionate and gentle with me. We arrived that evening and the staff had filled out all the paperwork for me---which was good considering I was crying so hard I couldn't have done it myself---and all I needed to do was scribble a signature. They quietly took us directly to a private room where we were given plenty of time to say goodbye to our kitty. When he came in, Dr. Ahern explained what was going to happen, and let us hold Panda while she went to sleep, and he said how sorry he was for our loss, and told us to take all the time we needed. Everyone, from the front desk to the doctor, were gracious and kind, and understood that we were going through one of the worst days of our life in saying goodbye to Panda. For routine care for our dog and cats, they've been fantastic -- even taking the time to learn our kids' names and talking to them during visits, too! They're affordable and kind, and really make you (and your pet!) feel appreciated as a client. I will never go anywhere else for my vet care.**Update 3 years later: I wrote this review in 2017 and it's now 2020, and in the interim, the adorable schnauzer in the picture became sick with diabetes, then went blind, then glaucoma, kidney stones, and bladder infections. It was nonstop, one thing after another, for 2 years until we finally decided his little body had had enough. Once again, AKVCC was there every step of the way. When we'd been in to the clinic 3x in a week, they comped one of our office visits. They helped us find specialists to deal with Kitty's eyes. And when the horrible day came to say goodbye to our pup, they once again handled us with the utmost compassion and care. They were there for us on one of the worst days of our lives, and they helped make it a little less difficult. All the <3 for AKVCC!

Thanks for taking such great care of Clyde during his bout with pancreatitis. I also really appreciate the team masking during this Covid/respiratory surge. It shows you pay attention and understand zoonotic/airborne viruses.

New front of house staff is rude and not understanding of loyal pet owners. We love the veterinarians but the front desk staff were unwilling to work with us on a timing issue when no one else was around. We have switched to a closer vet and are sad to leave our vet but the treatment by the front staff was unprofessional and added stress to a time that is normally stressful for pets.

They treat your dog really well, are friendly, and don't try to upsell you stuff. I've been taking both my dogs here (3 &4) since they were puppies.

I love the compassion and kindness of all staff and the Vet well she is fantastic ❤️. I have 2 Rex rabbits which are considered Exotic animals and i called vets in Riverside, Kalona, Coralville and Iowa City and none of them had any experience with Exotic Animals and therefore would not see my pets. I called this clinic and to my surprise they had no problems with caring for my rabbits. I am grateful ? for the Vet and all her staff.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!!! They are just out to take your money. We just recently had transferred care of our 7 fur babes to Animal Kingdom after our vet moved her practice there. When attempting to schedule a dental cleaning for our husky, Animal Kingdom said we would first have to do a $75 pre-dental exam. Our husky had just been seen for a full work up 2 weeks earlier by the same doctor who would be doing the dental cleaning, but still Animal Kingdom would not budge. They wanted another $75 visit before we would be allowed to schedule the cleaning. There is absolutely no reason for this waste of the doctor’s time, and our time, other than to reach into our pockets. So please, save your time and money and take your pets elsewhere.
