Stayed here over Labor Day weekend and LOVED IT! The staff behind the desk and the boys at the door are so sweet and kind. Always looking out for you and helpful.
I was shocked at the amenities included with the resort stay. Fishing, bicycling, beach, indoor water park, etc. wonderful.
I included pics of the fitness room which leaves a bit to be desired but that’s alright :)
Rooms: Good sized rooms included mini fridge and microwave

We highly recommend Honey Creek Lodge and restaurant. Staff is very efficient and friendly. Restaurant is excellent. Smash burger, side salad, and farmer's breakfast are delicious.
Rooms: Nice view of the lake.
Food & drinks: Delicious food.

Stayed a couple nights, 3 weeks ago for a work meeting. The staff was wonder and very attentive. Food was great. The staff does a very good job of attending to guests while there is also a lot of ground to cover. Often times you'd feel that they are working 12 hour shifts to keep people happy. We pivoted and added people, and amenities to our stay and they accommodated without interruption. We also even asked to get moved to a bigger meeting room and they changed it no problem. Staff worked very hard and like any great resort they work to impress so you'd come back. We definitely will.
Nearby activities: Pool, Lake, Running, Biking, Canoeing, Boating

Holiday hotel in the middle of the countryside and next to the lake. Highly recommended for vacations. They asked us 25 dollars to use the pool
Rooms: Big and clean but without any luxury
Noteworthy details: Make sure that the rate includes all the services or it will increase the price of your stay a lot

We stayed in one of their cabins. The cabin was full of flies, we found a cockroach in our bedroom and got bit up while sleeping. Bring additional blankets as they only provide a bed sheet and 1 very rough blanket.
We chose Honey Creek due to their "included" amenities and additional excursions. However, while we were there most of the amenities and excursions were not available. They also charge an additional $40 per day for the amenities even though they advertise them as included in your room.
They closed the kayaking, paddle boards, and peddle wheelers 3 hours early, did not have anything posted, the go-boats that were advertised are no longer available, and they were not running the train rides or horse-drawn carriage. I would recommend the waterpark for younger kids (7 & under).
It's a nice scenic location with a lot of local wildlife but overall we were disappointed in the experience and it was overpriced for what you get.

Ian and Lindsey had same experience as we did.
Planned 9 months ahead. Hard for everyone to get vacation. 6 couples. 2 children.
Booked for rv park, rooms, and Waterpark. Lake. We brought pontoon. Loved the slips. Loved RV park. Room was okay. Bathroom tiny. Way over priced. Restaurant was good. But there was maybe 10 ppl in it. The water park was never open. Hours totally inconsistent with posted signs. No refunds. No apologies. Same with horse. Train. Children disappointed is understatement as grandma had promised and went to gift shop at check in and bought the stuffed horses for souvenirs. We will tell all our family the flaws because they were huge set backs. We really really wanted to invest in IOWA.
Noteworthy details: Pool disadvantages were heart breaking. Hefty room charges were burden due to no refunds or apologies

This place could have been really great, but the service overall was very lacking. The pool wasn't open as long as it was advertised to be open, due to "staffing issues". I got the feeling that just meant the pool lifeguards didn't want to stick around for the duration of their shift. On a couple days the pool closed early, and on the last night we were there the lifeguards shut off the water slide over an hour before the pool closed. If something is supposed to be open until 7pm, then it should be open until 7pm, not 6pm. The lady at the front desk also seemed annoyed anytime we had questions about the pool or anything else. The room was very dated, and the bathroom in particular looked like it had been built in 1980 and never remodeled. The shower was very small too. The bath towels were some of the worst I've had at a hotel. A resort shouldn't underestimate how much good towels can improve a guest's stay. The best thing about the room was that the AC worked great. The golf course was very nice, and we also rented a pontoon boat, which was a lot of fun. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but Honey Creek could be a much better resort if the customer service was better, the pool hours were consistent, and the bathrooms were remodeled. I might consider staying here again, but it would be with lower expectations.

Way to much for rms When you don't even have all your amenities open. And they don't even have the water park open because they don't have enough people to staff it. And then they tell you that they're low on towels too. How hard is it to throw some in the wash so u got more? But the location is perfect and it's nice that they have a place to park your boats but pretty disappointed overall.
