It's next to the best Steak House in Iowa. The post office is really lovely and peaceful.

I have several demands for the Torrington post office going forward. First, I want pictures of how it used to look, because it must have been fancy. The public post office is made up of three rooms - lobby in the middle, retail shop on the right, and post office boxes on the left. There are these heavy duty wooden tables by the post office boxes who must have been used on both sides at one point (they're now pushed against the wall). The airplane-like windows must have looked so modern at one point. There are also other doors. Did they used to go somewhere? Was a small cafe attached on the left side of the building, explaining what looks like a separate entrance? Did the walls once hold more art? To my second demand, I want information about the current art. What is up now looks like pieces (imagined) of local boy who tried really hard to do good, John Brown. They're really interesting, and deserve a plaque with more information! As the post office actually is though - the drive up mailbox is a winter godsend, but has a fun tight corner to get to the drop slot. Prepare to lean. Parking is always available, and the retail shop has more postal purchasing opportunities than anywhere else I've seen since 2005. No late hours, but if you need stamps or shipping material they'll have it here!

The manager David is very rude and unprofessional when it comes to his job . Your job is to provide great customer service and if you can't provide that in a professional way then you are in the wrong business.

This is by far the worst post office in the Northwest Corner area. Nobody is ever in a nice mood which I can understand being in the postal industry, but they treat their customers very poor. Despite them having several windows to serve customers the lines are still always long. Every time I bring my prepaid packages to them for drop off they always give me problems and refuse to ship my items with my labels. Scrutinizing all my packages at the counter and wasting my time. If anybody is looking for a good post office make the drive to Thomaston Harwinton , Goshen, Morris or even an Bantam. I will never step foot in there again even if it is next-door to my house I will drive the package to another location.

Could have been a lot better. It took 5 days using priority mail for a package to get from North Haven, CT to Torrington. It's been 8 days using priority mail shipping from Florida and my package is at Springfield Distribution center where it's been for 3.5 days already. Not sure when I'll get this one. How are you guys going to get holiday gifts delivered in time?

We are blessed to have a very good mail carrier and those that help out are very good. No problems .

Stopped in for stamps and to mail a package. No wait at all. A successful trip to a government agency.

If you think about it, what the United States Postal Service achieves is nearly miraculous. It's easy to focus on the one piece of mail out of a thousand that gets lost or damaged. But let's face it, it's amazing what these people accomplish. So don't take it for granted.

I ship multiple packages every day. Sometimes I'm there two or three times a day. They always take great care of my needs and my shipments. Scott

The staff in here is nice and actually pretty efficient as far as my needs have gone over the years. I've never had any trouble with the service inside this location. I give them four stars. The location is also a convenient one in downtown New Albany. However, I give the carriers on my route an OVERALL score of one star. I've had mail problems since I moved across the bridge in 2000. I miss mail, I get other people's mail, and I have mail put on my porch in various locations because a new carrier won't take the extra 3 seconds to locate my box, which although not right next to the door, is in plain view and been there for at least 50 of the 129 years my house has been around. My route is what they call an auxiliary route. You can guess what that means; I get different carriers all the time and just when I get used to one, I get a new one. I also get temps frequently. Being understanding isn't always easy when you are dealing with something as time sensitive as mail like bills and checks. A birthday card late is one thing; a check from work that got lost for four weeks is another. That is what happened recently. A check was lost for four weeks. It, along with another piece of sensitive mail turned up in between the screen door and door, presumably placed there by a neighbor that received it. Idk. Ironically, the very same day, I received a piece of mail not mine and not close to anywhere I live. (I have never even seen that street before.) So, I made my biannual visit to the postmaster to discuss my problems. I have problems more than twice a year, but usually it's a bill that we miss and not a check or I receive someone else's mail and I return it to them in person. The postmaster in the past was always nice enough, but the problems never stopped. Yesterday, I spoke to a brand new postmaster. He was friendly, listened and said that he would take care of the problem. We'll see; not holding my breath, but still holding out hope. Until then, the two star average for the USPS in New Albany stands.
