Super cool historic hotel in Keosaqua, Iowa. The floors creak and a marble will roll forever. It's perfect!
Our room, the John F. Lacey overlooked the Des Moines river and we had access to the second floor veranda, which was awesome to sit out in at night and first thing in the morning!
The staff person, Joanie, was pleasant and easy to work with when we decided to upgrade our room to the Lacey room.
Overall a good experience!

At this current moment, I am giving this Motel a one star for service, as I have been on the road for for the last couple of days add have been seeking a quiet, clean, safe, country hotel to stay for the night, shower, relax, and take in the nostalgia. I was after normal office hours when I first started calling, so after calling four times, with no answer. Their voicemail was full, but their website said that they had rooms available. I was hoping someone would call me back, during my 2-hour trip to the hotel (as I purposely passed up multiple other lodgings). Neither Google nor their website said anything about not taking calls after a certain time. When I arrived, the parking lot was quite empty, but it listed the office hours on the door, and gave the same phone number, as on google, for after hours. So I got back in my truck, and called again, and again, no answer. However this time, the voice mailbox was not full, and I was able to leave a message. This is some place I would have loved to bring my family, but how can I even test it out, or give a good review, if I can't even get service, at a regular Motel hours. What about us weary travelers, that work day in and day out, and need a quaint beautiful place to stay for the night, instead of these meth filled standard, brand name motel rooms. It would have been nice being able to check this place out. I don't know when I'm going to be around here again. I am quite upset with this failed attempt at finding a good place to stay. I am now going to find some place to park and sleep in my truck, to continue work in the morning.

I could not have been more delighted to stay as their guest. I felt so welcome. The rooms are stunning, the staff is amazing, the energy is like stepping back in time. Transformational weekend and epic wedding of my bestie! ??
Rooms: Each room has a different theme
Walkability: There are a few walkable bars and diners
Noteworthy details: Very very small town. Most people dealt with cash. I’d say if you have a big personality l, just lower it a little and observe.

If you want to step back in time, and stay in a historic hotels, this is a good option for you. It’s clear that the owners take pride in their property. It’s a clean quiet place with lots of character in the original hotel building. I stayed in a River View room, and will certainly do it again when in the area. You can walk to an excellent breakfast at Great Day Cafe.

The Hotel Manning is great place to go. We hosted a Corp event here for our staff. It was well worth the money our meal for lunch was amazing. They do a great job of working w your budget. We will be back for another event later this year. This is a historic and unique property. Great people to work with!!!!!

I got cabin 3. It is a great deal for a nice, clean, spacious cabin right on the river. It's very peaceful and calming. It's only a few blocks from Misty's, which has an amazing black raspberry shake and great cheeseburgers. I will definitely come back. This has been wonderful

They don’t make buildings like this any more! A beautiful piece of history! So glad to see the effort being put into preserving and restoring it. The location on the river with the city park/riverwalk only adds to the quaint atmosphere!
