Best dollar tree in area.Clean store and parking lot. Doesn't always have everything they typically carry but WAY better overall than other Merle Hay location and less busy than Urbandale and Grimes. Good selection of balloons. Friendly staff as well.

Staff was super friendly. Store seems a lot larger than the other ones, or the items are just spaced better! Was able to find my item right away. The only complaint I have is that they have partnered/started selling items that are not $1.25. The other stores I have been to, have just 1 section for those items. Here I saw some in different sections and they did not seem to be labeled as more than $1.25. I used to love coming here because I never had to question that was I was buying was anything for than the $1, now I do.

Great location! Cleanest Dollar Tree in the Des Moines metro area by far that I have found. Staff is polite and helpful as well.

It makes me feel good about shopping there, but watch out cause a few items are not a 1.25$. it's still a good deal. Someone has to be there for the truck to get unloaded so they can get all the best stuff. Like the disinfectant wipes in the red packs, the good scrub brushs, the wheel shine, the white microfiber rags, and the whistler's, and the chocolate syrup, baby oil, etc.

Excellent store and staff. But do to 25% increase across the board and some smaller containers than before many items I have lost the Dollar incentive. You have lost everything's a bargain in your store. So consequently I go there much less frequently than before when it was a dollar and some of the items were larger sizes.

One of the worst experiences at Dollar Tree today by manager Urulsa when cashier asked for change for my purchases and Urulsa was helping a regular customer with balloons and stated "SHE will have to wait until I am done as helping a customer" That was rude way to assist another new customer and then when she finally walked over to get change did not apologize for my wait nor was she kind to the cashier and snatched the money from her hand to handle the change. I would NOT recommend this location if they are allowing a unexperienced, unprofessional management to run that location.

Horrible experience with witnessing management speak rude to its employees. Dollar Tree should have better management training to show respect to its employees.

Wow, this Dollar Tree is amazing! I’m super impressed with the selection as compared with any stores Ive ever shopped, including a dozen states. The store employees were a delight. Highly recommend.

I was extremely impressed when I came in, it is by far, the cleanest dollar tree I have ever been to. It's so organized and no boxes in the way. The workers were so nice and helpful! I will definitely be traveling the 15 minutes to this one rather than the one 2 minutes from my house!

I've been a customer at Dollar Tree stores in 10 states. This store is the cleanest, most organized, and well stocked location I have ever shopped. Ursula the manager is very helpful and Deb the cashier is efficient and friendly. Not only did this location have all the items we stopped in to purchase, but they had more special items that I've never ever seen at any other location. If you've ever had a bad experience at a Dollar Tree, shop at the Johnston location and it will show you how great a Dollar Tree can be! I can't wait to visit again.

employees are always rude and have attitude like they don’t want to be there. have a sign on the door they says they are closing early at 6pm, but when we stop by at 5:30 the door is already locked. would be interesting to know if corporate knows.
