I took my daughter’s car there for an oil change, a tire repair and new windshield wipers. The day after, we noticed the windshield wipers weren’t changed-though I paid for them. I called and they admitted they forgot. Would that have called me had I not reached out? I had to take the car back and there was no apology and no attempt to compensate my time….like a small refund for a portion, or a future coupon or anything else. An apology would have gone far. A gesture would have gone even further.

I went to CarX to get my brake pads inspected and replaced if needed. CarX said that my brake pads needed to be replaced and they were unable to resurface my rotors. They would need to replace them. We were okay with this, being quoted ~$800. I brought the car in on 06/03/25, they called that evening and told me I needed to replace the calipers too. This was confusing as this has nothing to do with the brakes, I let it go. My total is now up to ~$1300. I arrived at 6:30pm to pick up the car that night, as they close at 7:00pm. I waited until 8:00pm for them to finish the car. I was thrilled they stayed late to finish the car for me. As I drove it off the lot, I noticed a loud clunking/rattling noise that was not present before the appointment. So I brought it back. Matt, the store manager, claimed this was due to the control arm bushing being old. He lubed up the bushing and assured us nothing was wrong and it's perfectly safe to drive.
Matt also told me the mechanic unscrewed the wrong bolt, the caliber opened, and he was unable to recompress it, which is why they replaced them. I don’t believe this should be on us to pay for, but that's the least of our issues with CarX.
Two days went by, the noise was still there. I decided to bring the car back to CarX. I waited a few hours as they took things apart and put it back together. They came back with the same answer and still insisted it's perfectly safe to drive.
During this time, I was nannying and driving around a 9 and 12 year old all day, so safety was a major priority. I finally brought my car to the dealership on 6/10/2025 due to there still being noise. In short the dealership found: they assembled critical parts upside down, attached the wrong hardware, and things were being held together by a few threads. This was a very dangerous situation to put a young girl and two even younger children in.
As the dealership dug deeper, they also learned that CarX installed the wrong hardware in the shocks as well and that was the true reason behind the clunking. Why CarX touched my shocks, I have no clue. I finally was able to pick up my car from the dealership on the morning of 6/16/2025.
During this eventful few weeks, I went to CarX twice. Both times Matt was not there or willing to take calls. I called 3 times, 2 of which I got ahold of Matt. He was very rude each time on the phone. He suggested we bring the car back to him to fix, which I stated was not possible due to the car being un-drivable, not trusting him, and the service already being done by the dealership. After this, he was unwilling to compromise or do anything to make this situation right.

The guys at Johnston Car X were friendly, helpful and took care of helping me get my flat tire fixed in a timely manner. They squeezed me in to ensure I’d have my car back. They were top notch at getting the job done!! Thanks!!!

Been coming here for 10 years to get my oil changed. Always tell them a basic oil change and always use the coupon they send me. This time I do the same thing and I'm told the price is $20 more than the coupon shows I asked her why and she said they put full synthetic in. I never asked for full synthetic and have never used full synthetic she argued that they have always put full synthetic in. I have a record of every charge I've paid here and none have been over $35. Very unhappy. There are many options in the area to get your oil changed. I suggest you look at the others.

Went in for a tire repair and they took care of it for free. They squeezed me in and had it done with 2 hours of me dropping it off. Great communication and service! Highly recommend!

Went in for an oil changed, discovered something was cracked and need fixed. Not cheap either. After the horrible service trying to get financing, left my car expecting to pick it up at the end of the day. Nope!! They ordered the wrong part, now can’t find the part. It’s now 2 days with out a car. No assistance for a loaner or rental. I was told on the phone she’s just filling in and i need to be patient. Well i need a car. Must be nice to just leave people abandoned. Now I have to explain to my work I need time off, because of all the incompetence. Thanks a lot, appreciate it.

One of the worst places. One of my tires had low pressure and I requested to put some air on it. She asked me for the key of vehicle and took it back, and she put 38 PSI on three tires and the low tire pressure tire was still 24 psi and I asked her, She said if I drove 3–4 miles then it would be good. I drove 10 miles, but it changed. After two days, back I took it again, and she said I needed to make an appointment, but I can put air this time, bring your vehicle back side, I took my vehicle back side, but she didn’t open the garage then I went Discount tire, and he checked everything put air on my vehicle tire and drop over air from rest of the tires that she put 38 psi that supposed to be 33psi or 35psi is acceptable. So, she is such worsted woman and I will not recommend to anyone who wants to go there.

I had an appt to have my new plates put on car & get tire pressure checked. I also needed new batteries in my remote. I was helped by Sam assistant manager & Alyssa store manager. They both gave me awesome & extremely friendly customer service! I was out in a very short amount of time and no charge for what they did. I will definitely make Car X my new go to auto shop in the future. You both rock!

Amazing service, very fast. Came in with my Fiancé for a tire. Come to find out, it needed resealed. Took less than thirty minutes! Highly recommend!!
