They lie to you, they told me they didn't take my credit card and Manager Austin I told him that I didn't have any other credit card and he essentially canceled the reservation. Two days later they charged the credit card that they didn't take and when I called and asked about this fraudulent charge, the cowardly manager Austin told me not to call back and then it wasn't his responsibility to cancel my reservation even though he told me that they did take my credit card. When asked for his manager's information he told me that he was the manager and didn't have a boss and refuse to give me his boss's information. When asked for a corporate number he gave me the reservation line and told me to never call back. My lawyer has been made aware of the situation. My bank is disputing the fraudulent claim which was illegal and I'm going to put them on blast everywhere I can online until either Austin grows a set and takes care of the problem himself or I get him fired because that's the only thing that we're resolved this. They're not getting the money from me because my bank has stopped it but that place is trash. They don't clean anything in the building. Austin, the manager obviously should not be working in customer service because he has no intelligence whatsoever. And I would love to hear from Austin's manager or someone other than the brainless cowardly Austin that is the manager there.

Review: Terrible Experience with Hertz - Avoid This Location
I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Hertz today. We reserved a car this morning for a 5 PM pick-up. Upon arrival, my wife was initially told by the manager, Austin, that there were no cars available and that only a van was an option. As she was coming back to the car to inform me, we saw Austin showing cars to other people (as shown in the attached picture).
Feeling deceived, I approached Austin to ask about the situation. Austin admitted that he had cars but claimed he was not giving them to us and instead prioritizing people arriving the next day. He stated that these people had reserved before us, which was clearly a lie since we had a confirmed reservation.
I realized that this was an act of racism as Austin was not offering us a car due to our accent. This discriminatory behavior by Austin is unacceptable and deeply offensive.
Please, trust the negative reviews about this location. There is always a reason behind them. This was my first and last time with Hertz. In contrast, I was able to book and pick up a car within 10 minutes with Enterprise with no issues, proving that Austin's excuses about booking priority were just lies.
Avoid this Hertz location at all costs.

The man was too busy doing nothing to wait on anyone. Several people were trying to rent a car but he didn't care. I would give him 1/2 a star if I could. Some people just left without even waiting for him to help any of us. Finally we did too.

The fellas that work there are always pleasant, my only qualm is that the cars I've rented have not been the cleanest (stains, dog hair, etc)

I rented from Hertz the first time at Love Field in Dallas TX in 1971. Subsequently I rented from Hertz all over this country and countries in Europe, South America and Asia. Before I retired, my company spent somewhere between $75 and $155 million dollars a year with Hertz. In my last few years of work I actually helped craft and negotiate out contract with Hertz. I'm writing this note today to let Hertz know I will not be using them going forward. Admittedly, I have not been happy in the past with rentals from the Coralville location but wrote off my dissatisfaction as dealing with young people not experienced in business practices or basic courtesy. However, my most recent rental was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I arrived for an 8:00AM pick-up only to find no one in the office. At 8:17AM a young man walked into the office and asked me what I wanted. They couldn't find my reservation. They couldn't find the car they wanted to give me. When they finally found the car they spent another 10 minutes taking pictures of the car from every perspective they could. The car was filthy. The windshield was so dirty on the inside I could barely see where I was going and there was bright sunshine out side. I took the car to a car wash and then took it home and spent 30 minutes cleaning the windows so I could drive to Chicago safely. So, not that they care that much, but Hertz will no longer benefit from my business.

The representative from this location was great so the only reason they received any stars, but this car was FILTHY inside and out! To pay $200 for a 24 hour one way rental and to get it looking like this was unbelievable. I had to pull over to get something to clean the inside windshield so I could see out of it.Also, no transponder for Illinois tolls is not acceptable. I should not have to go into the Illinois toll service to pay the toll so I'm not charged $6.00+ per toll through Hertz.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is hands down the absolute worst place to rent a car from. If you have the option please go literally ANYWHERE else. If you are renting from them, make sure you return it at a time during open business hours and take the key inside. I rented my car at 830 AM on a Friday to be returned at 8AM Saturday, the next day. We got back into town late Friday night, so instead of waking up early to return at 8AM, I placed keys and rental agreement in the drop back around 1AM Friday night/Saturday morning. When the location opened Saturday morning, they failed to get my keys from the Dropbox and did not end my reservation. I was then charged $100 Saturday and $100 sunday when the car was STILL not returned, I even called 24 hour customer service and they left a note for them to close out the reservation. By 11Am Monday morning, I was charged another $100 and the reservation was STILL not closed. I then had to call the location for over 30 minutes to get ahold of someone and tell them to end my reservation! They are only open 9am-12pm on Saturday and closed Sundays and will not check in your car until Monday whenever they feel like it. Your card will get charged an extra $100 everyday that they fail to finish your return. When asked who was working Saturday morning that failed to return my rental, I was told it was the branch manager Christian working! Which is even better. This place sucks from employees all the way to management.

Walked in with my 5 and 9 year old nieces at about 12:50pm for my 1pm pick-up. No other customers there. Waited 11 minutes for the counter rep to finish and then also make another quick call. I had a reservation online for Friday May 12th - Monday May 14th. He said they were overbooked and he couldn't guarantee me a vehicle until Monday.... We got dropped off there... I asked him what we were supposed to do without a vehicle? He said we could call an uber.... He also gave me a pamphlet and circled the worldwide phone number for me to call and try and cancel because he said he couldn't do it in his system. Had to get an uber to get to my ortho appointment and then another from there to my family's place.Absolutely horrible experience and I had to spend more money for Ubers
