Everything feels old and grimy. We found a used razor on the floor and black mould around the bathtub faucet. There are no microwaves, the tubs are child size and the pillows are lumpy. The staff is kind and the location is great. Last time in Iowa City we stayed at the Hilton across the street, much more space and feels way cleaner.

Booked a suite here on Expedia for 3 people for a visit to the University of Iowa. At noon was told room available at 4:00. At 4:00 got a room that only slept 2 people was told they were booked was nothing they could do, not even a rollaway bed. When we asked to speak with a manager was told none were available and if we didn’t leave they would call the police. Front desk person was very rude we did nothing except expect a room that slept all 3 people on the reservation. Ended up at another hotel. Lots of hotels in Iowa city to choose from will be avoiding all Graduate hotels on future college tours.

I would like to take this Hotel with me on all business trip. Rooms are stylish. Internet is free of charge and super fast! Like over 200 Mbps up and down. The Graduate in Iowa City is partnering with „the GYM“ which is a fully equipped fitness center and you reach it from the Hotel via Level 2. A cafe near the Lobby area serves you a nice coffee. Awesome Hotel and always again!Walkability: Hotel is in the center of Iowa city you can reach anything via foot.Food & drinks: Plenty of restaurants closeby.Noteworthy details: Super fast internet!

Great location, comfy beds. I’d agree with another reviewer that the automatic light in the bathroom is annoying. Brandon in maintenance was very helpful when our heating wasn’t working.

The rooms and hotel are stylish and different from comparable lodgings, with aesthetics for book nerds and Gene Wilder fans. The aesthetics of this place are excellent. The staff was nicer than nice.Fees were on the high end of reasonable, except for all of the extras and upgrades they tried to tag me with. Thankfully they were happy to work with me and remove a few of those that I had never asked for. I shouldn't be surprised by the price at the desk before I even check in. BUT, at least it wasn't a headache getting it fixed.Parking in the nearby ramp was validated for $15 a night, with daily in & out privileges. That was nice.UNFORTUNATELY: The floors needed a good vacuum, both in the hallways and the room. There was a hair stuck in some dried mucous on the wall in the bathroom. Toilet paper was thin and cheap. We received ONE towel and washcloth despite two of us sharing a room for a couple nights... which isn't terrible, but illustrates how bare bones everything felt. We also got the vibe that if we were to ask for ANYTHING, we might get stuck with a surprise bill. The bed was comfortable but the sheets didn't fit well. The TV was pretty basic and older... don't expect any streaming services or casting abilities. The bar/restaurant was just ok. We were glad to have somewhere connected to the hotel, to have a drink, and again, the style of it was great. The drinks were good and the servers were friendly. The shoestring onions were tasty but nothing special, the food was very average, definitely nothing I would recommend. But the drinks and conversation with the bartender, were excellent.Overall, it was a decent stay, but we rather felt like it was just another "meh" hotel dressed in quirkier clothes.Worth the extra $$ for the aesthetic? Not really. There are other, just as walkable, cleaner, less expensive options for lodging that make far more sense.

Maria Jacavino and her sales team at the Graduate Iowa City have been amazing to work with! We place several groups here many times a year, and she always goes above and beyond to accommodate all requests. Highly professional, attentive, and responsive. Would recommend this property for any group travel, or individual travel. Close proximity to Kinnick Stadium also, which is a huge bonus for our groups!

Spent two months here before we moved to Iowa City in a permanent apartment. A home award from home. Truly a warm and welcoming place with very friendly staff and management.

I’m glad we stayed. Quaint, quirky place, fun, friendly staff, positive experience overall. Positives: Awesome clean, well-equipped gym, delicious !!!restaurant, cute coffee shop with tasty coffee, convenient parking lot, fun decor, located a short walk from amazing restaurants and adorable shops. The kettle with instant coffee and mini fridge were nice touches.Negatives: The bathroom light is on a sensor which senses you before you even enter the bathroom. No option to turn this off and no option for just a nightlight. That means full blast, blinding light when you need to get up and pee in the middle of the night. We tried hanging the small towels over the lights and hanging a shirt on the makeup / shaving mirror to block the sensor, but then we couldn’t fully shut the door, and there’s still also the ceiling light that is attached to the sensor that we couldn’t dim with towels. Whyyyyy??This next is minor -The dresser had faux drawers so , as two people over 6’, it was tough to reach our clothes when we were sore from the killer workouts we got at the gym (and from being over 40) - it could be a bigger negative for someone who is even older / even more arthritic. This one is more important if you have dressy events to attend - The closet had a hilariously tiny bar for hanging clothes which meant we only had room to hang our coats - and the second bar was *maybe* a foot above the safe. Someone should’ve put the clothes iron on top of the safe, and put the second tiny closet bar up (in line with the first one) so you could actually hang something other than, say, a handkerchief. Finally - I know the staff works hard and that everything was clean in our room, but there was a stray bra behind the chair, and what looked to be the remains of a granola bar under the bed (which is why it’s a good idea for hotels to have a block under the bed)Nearby activities: See above! bookstore, art museum, history museum, amazing restaurants - not to mention the great restaurant, coffee shop and gym right on site. There were also nearby bars and theaters downtown that we didn’t stop in.Walkability: Awesome - 5-10 minutes to get the the bookstore, art museum, history museum, amazing restaurants - not to mention the great restaurant, coffee shop and gym right on site.

Idk who decorates these rooms but they aren't for everybody. These rooms do look better than the rooms at the Graduate in Lincoln NE but still ugly none the less. They will accommodate large groups but be mindful that it's tight getting large buses in and out. Not to mention you'll have to park 2 blocks away.
