In my experience with previous donations, when I pull up, someone comes out immediately and takes our items. Asks if we want the paper for tax purposes.
That was not the case yesterday (5/18/24). Whoever it was working the donations truly needs better training and work on his anger issues. I dropped off 2 bags. No one came out. I waited for several minutes, still no one. So we put the bags by the door. And waited longer, so not to just leave them there and take off. The man that was responsible for receiving donations, came flying out the door, took both bags and threw them across the donation room with such force, he broke one of the bags. I told him thank you for taking them. Flat out ignored me. Never came out and asked if I wanted the tax paper. Just picked up the bags from where they landed, threw them in the bins and stomped away.
That was just down right rude. Not a way to work with public. I won't be donating again, I don't want to. I'll be taking everything to the Salvation Army. At least I know they won't inflate the prices of used items.

I took a box full of Readers Digest books to donate, and after I had unloaded it by myself, (and I'm 69 years old) the (rude) guy told me they don't take "encyclopedias". I told him these are stories, not encyclopedias. Still, he made me take them out of the tote and put them back in my car. These books are great. They will go to someone else who appreciates good books and my donations to this location will end.

Quite nice. I was able to find a portable CD player here (the only place in town that seemed to have one) as well as dirt cheap CDs by Soul II Soul, Lisa Stansfield, and Saint Ettiene.

Today I came in looking for boots for my six year old daughter I didn't find any so she wanted toys one toy did not have a price tag on it I got to the register and ask what was the price of the toy the cashier respond was $14.99 I didn't want to pay but my daughter wanted the toy. So that is what she charges me the toy was not $14.99 a price she made up because of my skin color because everything toy in the store is. $2.88 or$10.88 up I felt over charged because of my skin color that is taking advantage of a customer.

PLEASE fix the carts throughout the heartland so that they have the child safety straps! The last two times in Iowa City there were ZERO with functioning safety belts. I usually cannot find one cart at most locations with the safety belts. I have spoken to many managers and they do nothing.i have witnessed a child fall out at one location and my child was caught before falling.

I was here with my hubby. I am waiting for knee surgery and my hubby was pushing me in a wheel chair. We found a lamp and a large picture frame we wanted to buy so he went to the customer service counter to ask if he could put the items there until we were done shopping because his hands were full pushing me. The woman at the counter told him that she “would rather he not” I was shocked and asked her what is wrong with her! She begrudgingly put the items back for us. I wanted to leave without purchasing anything but hubby wanted to look more so we did. I thought Goodwill was supposed to be an advocate for people with disabilities??!! I can’t believe you would treat a disabled customer this way! You need to do better Goodwill, much better!
