Eastside pet clinic is very poor at responding to communication. After two weeks of not responding to my emails, I called and had an unhelpful experience scheduling over the phone. I feel as if it would be very stressful if I ever needed to contact them when something was wrong or needed urgent help. The one time I went each year they often forgot to sign paperwork and mixed up my dog’s rabies registration. I would recommend finding another vet in the area.

The people here are wonderful. Kind, caring, compassionate. Dr. Sullivan takes a genuine interest in her patients. I've brought my animal companions to Eastside for over ten years. I trust Eastside and recommend them highly.

Eastside has wonderful doctors and staff. They recently worked me in to examine a pet they had never met as I'm new in town. I wasn't rushed. Everyone was kind, didn't hurry and comforting as I lost my pet. They made arrangements for my pet to be cremated at a local facility. For people who have pets, they get it. Amazing.

By this summer we had been taking our pets to Eastside Pet Clinic for over 13 years. Like most cats, ours hates to be in a carrier and to leave the house. She’s terrified of the carrier, so we spend a couple weeks before a vet appointment putting treats in it so we don’t have to force her in when the time comes. She was due for her shots, but had also been having vomiting issues, as well as what seemed to be other digestive issues. We showed up on time with the stool sample they had requested. Our usual vet was on vacation, so one of the owners was our vet that day. From the start she was short, disinterested in our questions, and seemed to want to rush through the visit. And that’s exactly what happened. She wouldn’t take the stool sample (which, as stated had been requested), she was dismissive of our questions, and never even looked our cat’s backside, or checked into anything related to our primary reasons for being there. She administered the usual shots, and sent us on our way with nothing more than the usual recommendations for the sensitive stomach prescription cat food they sell at the store, even after we had reminded them had not worked. When our usual vet returned from vacation we called and asked her email so that we could explain our disappointments regarding the previous visit. We sent off an email, and two weeks later, had not heard back. I called to make sure the email had come through, and the assistant answering the phone confirmed that it had, but that our vet was particularly bad about answering emails. She said she’d try to get her to respond. This was the beginning of what turned out to be a bizarre and wholly unprofessional cycle of labored communication. We sent another email, called again and were told the same- “she’s bad with email, but we’ll try to get her to respond.” Over the course of 4 months, between many calls and email check ins, we received no phone calls, got two emails, the first with a one sentence apology for the disappointing service but no explanation, followed by a long list of info and questions. The second (after weeks of waiting and check ins) just another list of questions, which we responded to again, but then never heard back. To this day…two months later. No resolution, no final suggestions or plan, just a totally botched visit, two lists of questions and a pile of unanswered emails and calls. In the end one of the employees apologized, volunteering that the whole thing was bizarre and unprofessional, and vowing to get the acting head of the franchise to email or call us. But that too never happened. We called one last time to make sure that this administrator had gotten our correct info, and this time the same employee told us that if it were her, she’d just go to a different clinic. So…after 13 years we’re looking for a new vet, and felt obligated to let any pet owners know before hauling your little one into East Side Pet Clinic that you may want to adjust your expectations.

Dr. Sullivan is phenomenal & their front staff gets a A! Dr. S is the best vet in Iowa City. Amazing bedside manner, great sense of humor, and she’s like an animal whisperer! I’ve had terrible & good vet experiences, but Eastside is the only vet’s office that is a genuinely pleasant place to go.

We loved our first visit at the Eastside Pet Clinic! The staff and doctors were helpful, knowledgeable, and absolutely wonderful with our lab puppy. They made him feel comfortable during his exam and shared lots of great information with us too.

Dr. Lindsey Sullivan has worked with me for well over a decade. Her and her technicians were so incredibly kind and graceful with my deep grief when my last dog, Amigo, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and passed away after 3 months of discovery. Upon his death, I was deeply touched when I received a kind card with a note that a tree was planted in my dog's memory in the national forest from their office.I know things were really difficult for everyone as we all navigated the Covid-19 pandemic (and continue to navigate) to keep our fur babies and everyone as safe as possible. Covid caused shortages in staff members and so forth. I missed seeing Dr. Sullivan during this time but overall had good interactions with her technicians (And I'm sure Dr. Sullivan missed seeing all of us!). The "call when you arrive" was a difficult for me because I'm Deaf. Calling through the relay service delayed the process (often other customers who pulled up after me would be seen before me because they could quickly call once they pulled up) so the clinic started to allow me to come to the door upon arrival and wave at them through the window so that they'd know I was here. This worked well. I still highly recommend implementing a texting service to communicate efficiently with clients.Recently I've been able to see Dr. Sullivan twice in-person and am reminded of how kind, thorough, and thoughtful she is. Because of my trauma with Amigo, she understands and empathizes with my concerns with my current dog's (Rebel) cysts. Thus far, there haven't been any major concerns but she always carefully measures each cyst, documents it, and will be keeping an eye on it. I've always appreciated how attentively she listens to my concerns, and am grateful. Rebel naturally hates going to the vet but remains calm when he's in Dr. Sullivan's hands. If there are ever concerns, I recommend communicating them to the clinic who will listen and make adjustments for you. If they don't know, how can they make changes? I could not recommend Dr. Sullivan and her technician more! If we ever move, she will be greatly missed.
