Last weekend our dog was attacked by a stray and had a deep wound on his leg. After calling around EVERYWHERE - no clinic in CR, IC, Tiffin etc had weekend hours except BEBT (THANK YOU!!) They told us to come right in. We waited an average amount of time for a non-life threatening injury. Once Fritzy was seen, he was cared for with such kindness and compassion and skill that I was very impressed. They only have one Vet on staff on the weekends so of course Dr. Jana and the team were very busy. Kindness was also extended to me as I was offered a beverage and my dog was brought back to me to finish waking up once they were sure he was out of danger. The extent of Fritzy's wound and the way that it was repaired, as well as detailed take home care, were explained in detail. I was able to ask questions and did not feel rushed despite the business of the clinic. Thank you to BEBT for your dedication, compassion and skill!!!

Bright Eyes & Bushy Tails was once the pinnacle of care in Iowa city and back then I would've given them five stars. Those days are sadly over. Since Alan Berger sold the place service has been going downhill and now it's to the point where they are so short staffed that even when you do get an appointment you can't be seen in a timely manner, as in this last case for more than an hour after being escorted into an exam room. Ultimately I decided to cancel the appointment after waiting so long. I understand that they have emergency cases coming in but when they only have one veterinarian on staff during a shift that pretty much shuts out all other non-emergency care that may be needed. For emergencies they are still good, if those emergencies occur during regular business hours. They no longer offer 24 hour service and in a dire situation you have to travel at least to Cedar Rapids or Davenport. It's sad to see how far they have fallen.

Bright Eyes & Bushy Tails are in veterinary care for the love and compassion of the animals. We called many vets in our area (Waterloo) for emergency assistance on a Sunday and none of them would help for the well being of our beloved pet of 15 years. B.E.B.T. was there for us in our time of need. We drove over an hour away from our area to receive assistance. I am now glad we did!! The staff were all very kind, compassionate and caring and didn't even know us or our baby girl. They jumped right into action and helped us in our time of need. The Iowa City area is so very lucky to have them in your area for veterinary services!!Thank you!!

We had a hard decision to make for a sick pet that was clearly suffering, and these veterinarians helped us make an informed decision that was best for our beloved pet. They were honest and helpful, caring and kind. I highly recommend them.

Took my cat, Smudge, in about 6 weeks ago for diagnosis and treatment. I ultimately decided it was time to let my 17 year old baby go to kitty heaven. We went in yesterday and the staff was wonderful and compassionate from start to finish. I could not have asked for a more peaceful and calm experience! Dr. Maiers was awesome and provided great care with each visit, as did the other techs and staff. Thank you for your help and care!

My dog woke up with an eye infection on Saturday. I am thankful they were able to get him in just a few hours later and he received medicine, but my visit there was so unpleasant. The vet was so rude and unfriendly. She was getting very frustrated that my 10 month old lab puppy wouldn’t sit still so she could look in his eye. She was grabbing him by his scruff/collar to get him to sit still which he obviously didn’t like and kept pulling away from her, and even hid under my chair to stay away from her. I’ve never seen him afraid at the vet before. It seemed she didn’t understand how to work with dogs, especially young/hyper ones.

Jana, the vet, is on a public list of rehabilitators for wild birds in the state of Iowa. I tried contacting her all day via phone, her vet office and by text with no response to help rehabilitate in injured songbird to which she claims to rehabilitate. As a result of waiting so long, the animal who was lovely that A.M. sadly died the next day. For someone who has her information out in the public to help and to not even send a response back is so disrespectful. Especially when time is of the essence and I could have made other arrangements to get the animal assistance in another county had I known a simple “yes” or “no” on whether she was available to care for this bird. For someone who’s supposed to be a professional and care for animals, this is anything but.

I had a visit on Tuesday which went well, no issues with anyone I had contact with and the receptionists are notably very kind to myself and my kitten, Morty. However, my visit yesterday (Thursday) has turned me away from this vet. The vet tech discussed with us his state and such, which went fine, but once Dr. Conant came in, things went downhill. Right off the bat, it felt like all these negative potentials were thrown our way without any testing having been done, even mentioning that he may not make it. We were told, roughly, that we should ask ourselves if “we want a kitten, or this kitten”. Obviously, we want our kitten and we want him well. I appreciate the vet tech for the help and answering our questions, giving us reassurance and treating both him and us well. He’s already improved because it was not any of the harshly negative things he was suggested to have, he was simply dehydrated and an even lower weight from the dewormer given to him Tuesday which caused my already underweight kitten to lose several ounces from diarrhea. We will not return.

We were not prior customers, but our older dog passed unexpectedly. We called to request help with cremation services. BEBT took us in immediately and gently assisted us through this very painful process. Staff members were extremely kind. Within days, we received a card in the mail with sincere hand-written messages from multiple staff members (doctors, techs and reception). We had such an exemplary experience that we switched to BEBT for our remaining dogs.

My cat was suffering through a heart attack so I called Bright Eyes and Bushy Tails to see if we could get our cat euthanized but the girl on the phone said they were to busy and full and there were no spots left. I begged her pleading to end the suffering to no avail. She told me we could go to Des Moines which is two hours away or Bettendorf which is an hour away. My cat ended suffering excruciating pain and we had to watch without helping him. It was the worst thing I've ever witnessed and hope it never happens again. I have been there before with previous cats and NEVER did this happen to them. I WILL NOT GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!!

I came from out of town with my green cheek conure. I was concerned because my conure's voice had been affected and she barely ate for the day. We had just come in from where the Canadian smoke had created a harmful environment outside. Birds hide a lot of problems so something like that was concerning enough to get checked out. Not many vets can handle birds up here. I remembered this vet in particular saved my mother's dog's life many years ago. We were seen right away. Even though what we found wasn't a big deal, I'm truly grateful for the care we received!

We initially went to Bright Eyes and Bushy Tails when our pup was having issues with the disc in his neck and then refusing to eat. Our forever Vet had recently moved and I began to feel helpless. I heard about BEBT and we couldn't have made a better decision. Everyone from the front desk to the techs and right up to the Vet herself could not have shown more concern, interest and knowledge. Dr. Rebecca Maiers was very patient and extremely nice and answered and sometimes re-answered my same questions for me. I never once felt I was being rushed. She is absolutely the best !!! We will continue to come here not just if we have another emergency but for Well Pet Checks also. I highly recommend !!
