After years of claim-free premium payments, Grinnell decided they can't be bothered with me anymore. Don't trust them. You can do much better.

My car was damaged by a construction company that was represented by Grinnell. Darin Knowler was the adjuster assigned to my case and I had a very positive experience. He moved quickly approving the claim and my car was in the shop and I was in a rental car by the end of the same day the accident occurred. He went over and beyond my expectations and made sure everything was taken care of.

If you are a contractor looking for a reputable insurance company DO NOT work with Grinnell. I am a homeowner who filed a claim with Grinnell over work done by one of their clients that resulted in extensive water damage. It took six months + 1 day for me to learn they were denying my claim even though the contractor who is doing the current repairs has stated and documented the damage was due to inadequate workmanship. I am being forced to sue the original contractor directly since his insurance company will not stand behind him. Buyer beware!

Grinnell represents the construction company that damaged my car. I took my car to the body shop and received a quote of about 1000 dollars to fix. Grinnell sent me a check for 242 dollars. I have left 13 voicemails and 4 e-mails to discuss, and when they finally got back to me told me their adjusters feel 242 is reasonable. They have been totally unwilling to work with me and thoroughly unhelpful. I will now be forced to file an insurance claim through my insurance company. Darin Knowler is the rep that has been working with me and he has been little to no help getting me adequately compensated for damage his customer did to my car. He has also shown exasperation that I keep "bothering" him.

Impossible to deal with. Will not return repeated phone calls. Refusing to deal with my insurance company at all or to investigate accident THEIR client caused which totaled my car.

This is not my insurance company ... This is the company that the driver who HIT ME has. The adjuster Wendy who I have dealt with is heartless. They offered an insane low price for my car that THEY determined was totaled. The "comparable" cars that she suggested either were from dealers I would NEVER use or were just not something that I would consider driving (also damaged) or had very high miles. I have been told several times "we are responsible for buying your totaled vehicle, not replacing it" ... Seriously I wouldn't need a different car if you hadn't totaled it out. Now I have settled for an amount that I still believe it to low and they refuse to send the check until after they have received the title for my old car in the mail. How am I supposed to purchase something different if you refuse to send the check?? Also they tried to cancel my rental car... Really so I should walk 30 miles to work while I wait for the postal service to deliver the title to you, then for you to send me a check? I am thankful that this is NOT my insurance company!!! I will be glad when I am done dealing with Wendy! I wouldn't recommend this company to ANYONE!!

While this company paid they claim, they did not do it in full. They'll nickel & dime you over every little thing. I tried to keep my claim cost low by not taking a free rental every day it was eligible, but only taking one when I needed it. I saved them roughly $300 by doing this, and then they shorted me $40 on a battery claiming a "betterment", taking a random guess that the current battery was 1/3 of the way through its useful life. The shop said they were legally allowed to do this, but that most insurance companies don't bother.
