Very responsive and informative! I could really tell the effort that goes into caring for the animals at the shelter. The cats were all so relaxed and friendly. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about every cat. They gave me a thorough background history and all medical information of my cat, plus a nice starter bag of goodies. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend adopting from Emmet County Animal Shelter.

Kristi & her team work tirelessly for the abandoned, the beaten, and the mistreated. I know for a fact they sit for HOURS upon HOURS to catch an abandon dog in the middle of no where. If they deny adoption to someone, there is a reason. I've adopted a kitty from here & it was a wonderful experience.

Cristy(?) Only gives animals to who she likes. Doesn't matter if the dog loves you, she denies applications for no reason. She does not care about the animals only her title. I guess it makes her powerful. Those poor animals that have been there for years. Puppies are given to her friends. She needs to go!! During a texting argument she told me to go hang myself several times!! WHO can get away with that? Not only will she not adopt to me, she red flagged me so I can't adopt in the state of Iowa? Does she have that capability? She will not give me a reason! I can't believe she's able to say no because she doesn't like you. She doesn't even know me but says "GO HANG YOURSELF!!" She is out of control and needs to GO

My first fur baby I adopted from Emmet County Animal Shelter was Mia, a 3 year old , 8lbs, female Chihuahua back in 2015. Their description of Mia was spot on, in temperament, demeanor, and attitude, housebroken, leash manners, health, so on and so forth. Mia has been my constant companion ever since. She goes with me almost everywhere I go. Depending mostly on weather, the temperature to be specific and how long she would have to stay in my vehicle if she couldn't go inside with me. My rule of thumb is no more than 10 minutes in the car and again I'm very mindful of the temperature. She has traveled back and forth to Michigan to see my folks for a week or two, twice a year. Our last stretch ended up being 6 months. And those trips never phased her. She is good wherever I am. I also take her for rides on my bike. I got her a front handlebar backpack that detaches to use as an actual backpack if we park the bike. She loves it. But her favorite is to go for a walk and at 11 years old now, she still has a giddyap and go in her step and we walk for a mile or two. I let her determine how long our walks are. I would definitely get another fur baby from Emmet County Animal Shelter if and when the time came. You should too.

I had an issue with a lot of stray cats in my backyard. So, I put a live trap out there to remove them in a humane way and caught one within hours of setting the trap. Call with no answer, had to Facebook message them to get back to me. Once they came out to pick up the cat, the worker was very rude. She treated me like a was stupid and very bad attitude towards me. I was thinking of adopting a pet from them in the future but I won't be doing anything with them again after how their employee treated me at my own house.

We had been looking for a dog that would be a good fit for our family. We had applied for a few. Emmet County Animal Shelter was very impressive. They volunteers who work tiredlessly to care for the animals were very responsive. Kristy was very professional but very down to Earth. She was informative but not in a know it all way. We truly loved working with her. We drove almost 4 hours to get our fur baby! You can tell Kristy and the volunteers had already begun working on some training with him. We feel blessed to have our fur baby and are greatful for the people working here who kept him safe til we found him. Thank you, angels truly walk the Earth!!

Less than impressed with the operation of this shelter. Had submitted an application to adopt a kitten posted on the website. They take a long time to respond. My daughter also submitted an application and they never did respond to hers. Never did get a responce as to whether I was approve or not. I just gave up.
