Let me see....how can I start this?!? Ok, so before anything, I check the reviews. Most of the low ratings says the same thing. It's molded. It's bug infested (stink bugs, couple flies and spiders). Over charge. Then the oddest things while I was reading the "5 star reviews" occurred. They said the service was great, and the beds are clean...but somewhat would mention the bugs, and the overpriced rooms...? So I said whatever, and book and room. I haven't been to all the rooms, but certain rooms don't have a mini fridge. Staff is only there from 9am to "11" pm...depending on who's there. There isn't any microwave. The ice machine and the microwave is located at the main office...which I may add is only open from 9am to "11" pm...again depending on who's working. The rooms are small and they stink....like mold. The bathroom is questionable. I haven't operated the window, so I wouldn't know if they had a screen on it or not. I'm guessing the guy works morning shift, because he's the one that knocks on people's door's at 9. When obviously check out is at 11 smh lol. So yeah. Hope that helps some of you readers thats suggesting booking a room here. FYI, motel 6 is Rodeway inn's.
Rooms: I would check the beds before I go lay down if I was you
Nearby activities: Not that far from clubs and casino. Some decent spots for food
Walkability: Great places to walk to. Gas station, Starbucks. Aldi's. A Mexican restaurant.

Very Clean budget motel at a very reasonable price. Family owned and the owner checked me in and he was very nice and helpful. I will be back. They are remodeling rooms.
Rooms: Clean rooms. We were not expecting many amenities for the price we paid.
Food & drinks: Next to couple of restaurants.

Literally the most disgusting place I have ever stayed at. Horrible stained towels and bed sheets. No blanket. Dirty grimey floor. Noisy. Flat smelly pillows. Bed hard as a rock. If I could give zero stars I would

Food & drinks: Plenty of fast food in gas stations

We got checked in and it requires a $100 deposit whatever. We got to our room and finished eating and we saw 3 cockroaches, called front desk and they switched us rooms. Second one didn’t have a fridge but it’s whatever. It was also freezing in the bathroom but it’s okay I guess.

PLEASE DONT STAY HERE. THEY SCAM YOUR MONEY AND YOUR BANK CARD THATS REQUIRED AT CHECKIN. This place requires a deposit and they keep it. When you call them to ask about the return of your deposit, they act like it's a mistake and they will check it out and call you back. But they won't. And when I try to call them they have my number blocked.3 WORDS FOR THE OWNERS AT RODEWAY IN DUBUQUE IOWA:Better Business Bureau

Pros: easy parking, room was pretty clean aside from the bathroom mirror (it had someone’s dried popped pimple juice on it).Cons: Asked for an extra blanket at the front desk but the guy was clearly sky high and never got around to it. He also followed me outside after I left the front desk and made me feel less than safe. Nothing happened, but it was a bizarre encounter that felt quite off.The following morning, several people (with the motel) knocked on our door to ask when we were checking out. This started around 9am (checkout was not until 11). It was infuriating since we were trying to sleep after a late night. Do not recommend. For 140 bucks, it should’ve been a little better than that.

I truly cannot overstate how much you should STAY AWAY from this place.I chose this hotel because of its supposed dog friendly policy while a friend and I were in town for a dog competition. After our visit and all the hidden fees were over, I truly wish I would have just taken the extra $160 they charged me ($100 deposit plus $20/night) and stayed somewhere nicer/safer. I didn’t expect much from this place given the price point, but I didn’t expect to get straight up scammed and I wish I would have listened to the negative reviews. There were dead bugs throughout the room, the AC barely worked, the keycards continually did not work, the room smelled disgusting, and I felt unsafe staying there despite being comfortable in large urban settings. I didn’t sleep the entire first night because I was convinced someone was going to steal my car/break in.In addition to all of that, they sprung a $20/night pet fee on me during check in. It wasn’t listed anywhere on the website from what I had seen. I was a little annoyed, but figured it wasn’t unreasonable or too expensive, so I agreed. Then they said I also had to pay a $100 pet security deposit, but that I would “definitely” get it back as long as my dog didn’t damage the room. They would just do a quick walkthrough to confirm the room wasn’t destroyed and then they’d refund my card after check out.We had been traveling and competing all day and I didn’t want to argue with the guy at the front desk, so I agreed and put it on my card, knowing that we would barely be in the room and were going to be using our own sheets so I would definitely be getting my money back.Warning bells went off in my head when he wasn’t able to give me a receipt for the deposit and when I saw later that evening that he had double charged me for the room.I tried going to the office to get things sorted, but the teenager that had checked me in was unhelpful and the manager he put on the phone was just as useless. He said he would have a receipt for me the next day proving they had refunded my card, but never did. He told me I could email and text him, which I did when the invoice for the refund wasn’t provided the next day, and he didn’t respond with relevant information. Before I left, they had charged my card a third time. When it was finally time to check out, I asked the man working the desk to do a walkthrough with me present so I could confirm with him that I’d get my money back, since I had seen reviews about people not receiving refunds. Not one minute into the walkthrough, he starts talking about refusing to return the deposit because my dog left “hair everywhere on the floor” (we didn’t get maid service for 3 days and the room door opened up to the parking lot, of course we were going to have debris on the floor). And said there was hair and paw prints on the bed sheets (again, I stripped the beds as soon as we got there. The two paw prints I could see were larger than my dogs and at this point, I wouldn’t be shocked if the sheets were not thoroughly cleaned before we got there). When I asked him to show me the dog hair on the sheets, he tried claiming that a piece of string was dog hair. That’s all he could find. Then he went back to talk about “how much” debris was on the floor. When I protested, he told me I was a liar, a scammer, and said I was trying to trick him and that there was no way I’d get my money back. He even called in a nearby maid so she could take his side and tell me to shut up and accept that I was out the $100 for “ruining” the sheets because I couldn’t “control” my dog. When I asked if they were really going to charge me $100 to sweep and do laundry, he said “you have 10 minutes until checkout, you can start now”I have never been treated like that at any hotel. I walked out angry crying and tried to call the manager to see if he could help, but got no support.2 months later and I finally got a chargeback request to go through via my bank for the pet deposit.DO NOT STAY HERE. They will try to scam you on top of not providing clean/safe rooms.

My primary complaint is this motel requires a $100 deposit that they make incredibly difficult to receive back after your stay. I was told it would be returned in 3 - 5 business days and had to call 3 different people 4 times total to get my deposit back 17 days later. I see that this is a dishonest practice and trend by this motel in the reviews. The rooms were also not clean and had damages to the furniture requiring repairs. (We found a nail on the floor.)Safety: Did not feel very safe. Flimsy deadbolt and people sitting in parking lot outside of rooms.

They will hold your $100 deposit for 2 weeks...Went to the front desk, gave the guy my ID, he goes "you're not 21" (I am 22). I told him this, he goes "it says right here, not 21". Referring to the part on my ID that says "not 21 until" then my birthdate. He goes "so your ID is expired". No, not expired until 2027... After the hassle, I got misdirected to my room.

Window leaks like sieve. About 100 feet from highway. Toilet very short like a child's (no squatty potty needed). Shower squeals loudly at high water pressure setting. Shower temp indicator backwards. Floor sticky not rinsed from prior "washing". Very thin blankets. Lumpy pillows. Dead crickets on floor but no other bugs found. Could hear every word of neighbor's conversation in parking lot through leaky window, and their outdoor cigarette smoke got into our room through the leaky window. Semi trucks (lots of cattle trucks) and motorcycles make a lot of noise coming up and down the hill on the highway nearby. There is no coffee pot or microwave but the little fridge worked. There is a Dunkin Donuts and a Starbucks nearby. We did get two small bath towels, two hand towels and two wash cloths, two little soaps, and two tiny bottles of shampoo. Desk hours are very limited. It was cheap in more ways than one. There is no breakfast. The room was clean enough, no bedbugs were seen, and the lights all worked. The phone charger on the wall between the beds worked, but the portable phone battery we plugged into it fell out unless we tied it up to the disturb. There was only a little mildew in the shower. Not coming back.

Basic room, no frills, air worked, which was great on a day that was almost 100 degrees out. Very conveniently located.
Safety: Little dicey feeling when I saw the safety lock had been pulled out of the door, leaving the dead bolt lock as final safety. Otherwise my one night stay worked out fine.

We stayed two weeks earlier in the hotel. They took 100$ from us for deposit. They didn’t still pay back our money. And this hotel wasn’t clean.
