Storyhouse Bookpub is an adorable and cozy small bookstore in Des Moines's East Village, considered a favorite by many. It offers an amazing and incredible quality selection of books, including lots of new and popular books, classics, smaller authors, an enormous selection of children's and YA books, and used books. The store features a cute and cozy kids section, though the shop itself is little and can get crowded easily. The staff are so kind, amazing, and welcoming, often knowing their customers and making them feel treated like a favorite. It is an inclusive place where you always feel welcomed. Handwritten employee-made recommendations are found throughout the shop. The owner plans many great events and book clubs that support the bookstore and surrounding community, with customers noted as being amazing. While some store-priced items seemed rather expensive, they also order books quickly at competitive prices. Overall, it is a lovely environment in a great location with all-star performance.

This is my absolute favorite small bookstore in Des Moines. Every time I visit Des Moines I make sure to stop here and I am never disappointed. I love how they have small employee made summaries attached near books they recommend. I've never left here without at least two books.

Lots of new and popular books, classics, and smaller authors I hadn’t heard of. Looked like a nice large Kids’ section. Little bit of a small shop, so it got crowded very easily. I know most hard covers/paperbacks have a set price, but some items with the store’s own price seemed rather expensive.
