She is incredibly patient, always willing to answer my questions, and truly goes above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and informed. My cat is FIV positive, and Dr. Heyer took the time to thoroughly explain what that means, answering all of my concerns with compassion. She even checks in with us, which means a lot. If you’re looking for a vet who genuinely cares about your pet’s well-being, I highly recommend Dr. Heyer!

I just think so highly of the staff and the care they provided Maggie. They were compassionate, knowledgeable, helpful and patient with us. The Drs took their time to answer all of our questions, provide options and their recommendations. I always felt like we were taken good care of.

Iowa Veterinary Wellness Center
3836 Beaver Ave, Des MoinesI have a medical problem child who in her almost 9 years of life has had medical issues of one sort or another almost the whole time. Her medical records are in book form and she has her own medicine cabinet.? With her latest issue our hometown vet was giving us the runaround and prescribing even more pills and crossing their fingers. Nothing helped. Ok we're done here. Found the Wellness Center on line, called for an appointment and got in almost right away. The Doc checked her out and told me of the tests they could run but they weren't equipped to do an endoscope which is what was probably needed to be done to get to the bottom of her problem. The Doc referred us to another clinic that could do this and so ended our visit here. Needless to say I was disappointed because I really thought we'd finally get some answers. We did however get connected with the other clinic a couple of weeks later and this doctor came through for us. Angel was diagnosed with mega esophagus, aspiration pneumonia, and a uti More meds, a new diet plan and a different way of doing things and Angel is doing much better! And I have to applaud the Wellness Center even though we were only there that once because instead of running us through the ringer like our hometown vet she pointed us to where we needed to go. It truly shows that her patients well being is No. 1. And with that I thank her and her staff!

They didn't hesistate to get her in and stayed past closing to get her fixed up. They whole staff was extremely kind and you can tell they really care about your pets. I had the Maple cream, hubby had toasted hazelnut, mocha. Both very good. We lingered and chatted with the locals who suggested the shop next door, Purveyor, for wonderful sandwiches and food. We shopped at Raygun which is attached? Fun items, mugs, t shirts, lots of politically incorrect, funny things.

The cinnamon baked good I had tasted stale and possibly microwaved, and the other foods in the display case didn’t look good, but the coffee was excellent and the staff were quick and polite. Looked like lots of friendly people, either chatting or working alone or meeting in groups and a nice hang out spot.

They have plenty of indoor and outdoor space to hang out and a beautiful view of the capitol and much of downtown Des Moines. Our bartender Jake was awesome! Well worth a visit.
