I am so tired of being given the run around to track down my own records! I had a parathyroid scan done on the 18th of August and I was told the results had been sent to my doctor in speaking with the nurse they never received my results. So I’ve been dealing with this for over a week now trying to figure out the results of this test! I am highly annoyed and frustrated with everyone at this hospital!

After a failed spinal surgery, over 9 ICU aquired infections, filthy room, one day with no nurse for 8 hours when my dad was suppose to be turned every 2 hours. Watched a nurse pick garbage off the floor then without changing gloves, took blood sample and put in meds. Got herpes in his eyes from someone touching his cold sore then his eyes. Was refused transfer after several attempts. Then to find out, that my Dad had Level 1 trauma and should have never never been at a Level 2 trauma center. Head of Rehab, Dr. Fu did nothing. Oh, almost forgot the Fentanyl overdose. Worked with patient advocate, social worker. Emailed patient advocate. He needed to be at Iowa City or Mayo but instead he died there. They took away any chance of survival. Do not go to Mercy One Trauma in Des Moines. As this is just an overview, I have journal pages of everything that was screwed up there. It is a nightmare that I will have to live with the rest of my life. My dad begged me to get him out of there. Don't make the same mistake.

Terrible service I had a fall Risk and the night nurse tom let me fall to the ground right in front of him then to me to get up by my self just hours after having major spinal surgery. And they don’t care about the meds you are prescribed even thought my dr personally came down to the hospital with the official form detailing all the meds I needed to be talked and they just ignored it. My opinion terrible service some not all terrible staff.

Rude, unprofessional, uncaring staff. Go elsewhere if you care about your health or the health of a loved one.

I emailed but since I never received a response, I'll post publicly. Was treated very poorly when I went to the OB Emergency Department. I had covid and was very clear on that from the get go. My Ob sent me there for a stress test she refused to let me skip. Nurses were very standoffish. Was trying to leave and nurse yelled down hallway to another nurse trying to talk to me...she shouted I was covid positive. I was also wearing the red plus sign sticker they put on me when I wanted in. HIPAA???? Dont go if you have covid...

it's a culture of nastiness. I used to work here and experienced a nurse coordinator jab her finger into my face and was threatened with physical violence. this hospital was the worst place I ever worked.

My mom is there unfortunately and she is almost completely blind she ask for help reading the menu and was told “ that’s Not my Job!” Seriously they are rude she is missing meals they are not answering her call light and she has literally a broken neck and is in her 70’s if you consider that good care then use that hospital but I certainly Do not at All!!! She not even getting her medication on time . I truly wish we were able to transfer out that hospital their care level is No Longer Good!!

Went to go visit a family member admitted for a bad infection in their leg and they wouldn’t let us in because we had our 10 yr old kids with us. They claimed it was their policy. So if they won’t let kids 16 or younger in the hospital to visit family, do they refuse them service too?? Place is an absolute joke. Keep living in that covid fear. No wonder you can’t keep any good drs around. This is one of the many reasons I go to Methodist. The care you get at any of the other area hospitals is much better.

This hospital is a joke! The staff here does not care for the people in their beds. Something so simple as a robe for a patient sitting in the ER for DAYS was too complicated a Task. No compassion for people in serious pain from surgeries, to giving birth. They set the standard for what’s wrong with our health care system. Good job MercyOne
