Its convient water workout classes is the only reason I go. That place needs a face lift. the locker room needs cleaning badly. There has been a dirt clod and dirty Q-tip on the floor for the whole two weeks. The showers are disgusting. Soap scum on the shower walls have not been cleaned off. I look daily to see if a shower after a pool workout is pissible. Nope! I'm waiting to see how long it takes someone to clean it up. It doesn't do any good to report it the black lady at the front desk with the multicoloured hair gets upset if you disturb her personal call on the company phone. Even some of the other members say that they are on the verge of going to another Y like some already have done. If my work schedule changes I probably will too. Until then, Please clean it up.

They have a parenting class for fathers, after 4 weeks you get a year membership to every YMCA and after 8 weeks they help you with your child support. Amazing resource for those that need it and helps you to better understand your children.

This was my first time here and I have to say that all the employees I saw and spoke with were very kind, and I will definitely be coming back soon! The swimming pool and hot tub were really fun and relaxing! We also jogged on the indoor track, and used to weight room- which has tons of great equipment.

My husband and I are from out of town and just visited the John R. Grubby Community YMCA. We were super impressed with the cleanliness of the Y. We were most impressed with how friendly and hardworking the staff was. Super helpful and attentive! If we return to the Des Moines area we will definitely visit this Y again!

Amazing staff. Incredibly underfunded. The Wellmark YMCA is not even 2 miles away from this one, yet there's no comparison. Something isn't right here...

The women here are very mean i had a bad day and i came to the y i didnt feel like speaking so i told them i was sick. They booted me into the cold and kicked me out. I wasnt actually sick and the lady wouldnt believe me. I went home and began to cry 😢

Our East Des Moines Lions Club and the Des Moines Parks Lions Club volunteered at this YMCA yesterday doing vision screenings for Healthy Kids Day. The staff was extremely helpful with assisting us to set up and checking on us later. The building was clean and everyone so nice.
