*Went for A/C leak diagnoses. They asked in the end for $350 for nothing repaired.
*1st time I dropped car off, they didn't have time to look at while it sat in the lot the entire day.
I authorized a $350 charge to fix leak near evaporator over the phone. But it turned out they couldn't fix it. They still wanted payment of my authorized amount.
When I confronted Gus about why the total cost was so high, he said that was two hours labor ($350). I explained the rates for A/C leak checks are much less. I told Gus I would only pay what the going rate for an A/C leak check would be since they didn't fix leak near evaporator. He was a bit combative with me.
But it turns out, the $175 I paid is still higher than many shops charge for an A/C leak diagnoses. I will never trust mechanics again.
Anyone have reasonable rates that charges less per hour than a doctor or lawyer, please contact me. (Des Moines, IA)

I’ve been using Drake Garage for my car care for at least 15 years and they haven’t disappointed me yet! I used to only drive old “clunkers”, and the technicians at Drake Garage kept them going, and even advised me about when the cars were no longer safe or a wise financial investment. With my new car, I have ONLY trusted Ryan and Gus for its routine service-visits!
