The beginning portion of the museum was disappointing as there were some things missing and a lot of interactive stuff, but I figured the ticket was only $13, so no big deal.
But the longer I spent there and the more I saw, the more I loved it. They had a lot of fun, interactive stuff. One of my favorite exhibits was the periodic table. It really put into perspective what the elements are and how they are used.
They were also working on remodeling and adding new things to the museum, so I'm sure it's even better now than when I went.
I had a good time and would definitely go back.

Not bad for a quick visit. Good amount of stuff to do with the movie theater.

This is a good place to take kids to keep them occupied and hopefully inspired beyond their visit. Unfortunately, though, a good majority of the technology and activity technology was in disrepair, needing updates. A lot of the displays and presentations are in need of updates as this feels almost like a trip back to 1992. I wish I had known that this was more of a place for kids as it was really hard to focus, navigate and enjoy with screaming kids around every corner.

I am glad there is a place like Putnam Museum, where I can show my grandsons things they can't see in the fields of Iowa

This is a cool place to go with a child and it is very inspiring for children to learn. You can have your kid learn here and still have fun. Honestly i think this place is a one time go-to but you can definitely keep going if you want, i don't recommend becuase it gets boring after a while
In summary very good place to go for a one time thing?

The museum has outstanding exhibits. Our community is so fortunate with the Egyptian collection. Now the museum’s curator Christina Kastell is hosting an educational tour to Egypt in June 2024 with Asst Professor Onnica Marquez of St Ambrose University.
I have attended 2 travelogue meetings at the museum in the beautiful Lardner Balcony. Mrs Marquez even hired a professional belly dancer to demonstrate the dance form!

This is a great place to take the family. Theres lots of different exhibits, so there's always something for everyone. My kids are always most excited to see the Egyptian/mummy area. This past time we went was for a field trip and the staff went above and beyond to make the experience great for everyone there.

I saw displays of gems. They had a story about other God and how someone that s dead the heart turns to a gem. Their is only one God. I thought museums were history and not lies. I saw other lies.

As a 5 year old in 1965 I lived two blocks away from the Putnam Museum. My childhood friend and I would roam all over in those days and often roamed over to the museum. For a dime entrance fee and no adult supervision we had the museum to ourselves to explore and play. The museum provided my first experiences with mummies, wild animals, native Americans, and many other things a five year had no concept of back in the 60’s. It was great! Thank you Putnam Museum for some my fondest childhood memories
