So this is bottom of the barrel as other reviewers suggested, however once you embraced it and lean into the trashiness it is a lot of fun. Will your room smell like smoke? Probably. Will there be burn holes in the blankets? Most likely. Will there be a threatening sign in the bathroom about the towel being UV tagged so you don't steal? Yes but that's also so absurd that it is hilarious. Keep your expectations low and instead of complaining just laugh and you will have a great time. I'll be honest, this is a POS motel but for some reason my family and I have made this our go to hotel whenever in Iowa City. Is it sad? Again, yes. But is it fun? Also yes.

I wouldn't stay here ever again. The rooms are not very insulated at all. We could hear every noise and comments from the other rooms. It's very sad. Plus after I made thee reservation I was quoted one price and when we got their it was increased. I would have given 0 stars if I could've.Noteworthy details: Do not stay here! You'll understand from above statement.

Stayed between 9/1/23 - 9/2/23. Perfect example of getting what you paid for, so I knew from past experience what to expect and wasn't surprised; Thus the 3 star review... The front door handle was apparently installed upside down so had to lift up in order to open. Right when I got in the first thing I noticed was how dirty the floors were... half-assedly swept & wasn't mopped. Hair in both shower and sink area. grasshoppers & ants throughout the room. The condition of the property along with the price draws in some questionable characters. The property is in a prime spot to neighboring businesses within Coralville's River Landing area, but being right next to the road & a gas station adds to the drawbacks.

REALLY? THE POLICE HAD TO BE CALLED. DO NOT LIE. YOUR EMPLOYEE ENTERED HIS ROOM AND "THREW AWAY" ALL OF HIS BELONGINGS. HE PAID FOR THE ROOM, YOUR EMPLOYEE ENTERED THE ROOM, AND THREW AWAY HIS STUFF. BE HONEST. NOTHING WAS DONE UNTIL THE POLICE WERE INVOLVED. THE ONLY LIE HERE IS THAT YOU RUN A LEGITIMATE MOTEL. DON'T CALL ME A LIAR, YOU LIAR. I WAS THERE!What a terrible place. My wife is a patient at Iowa City Hospital. The patient in the next room is a nice woman who came here from Guttenberg, Iowa for help. Her and her husband are elderly. He was staying at Motel 7 while she was in the hospital. While here, at the hospital the staff at Motel 7 emptied his room of all his belongings. Then they told him that they cleaned the room and threw out his belongings. They blamed the incident on anything and everything they could. THIS IS HOW PATIENTS ARE TREATED BY MOTEL 7. YOUR BELONGINGS ARE NOT SAFE. YOUR ITEMS WILL BE STOLEN OR LOST. THEN THEY WILL BLAME IT ON YOU. CRIMINAL!!!

I wasn't expecting much from the price, just a clean and safe place to sleep and that's what I got. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was quiet and I felt safe as a solo female traveler. The only thing that was amiss in my room was the stand on which the refrigerator sat, it seemed to be broken and the fridge was tilted backwards, but I had a good fridge and a microwave, so no complants. For the price, it is good.

Deposit for incidentals, deposit for pets, bulletproof glass office, X-cons housed here by Corrections officials, sketchy people milling about all hours of the night. Older motel, microwave was nasty, had to be replaced. Fridge is inadequate for long term stays, bar missing for one of the storage slots, no door shelves or freezer.Ok overall for being inexpensive, needs some updating.

Though the weekly special posted infront of their office suggested 55$ rooms for the week, They still tried upcharging us 150$ for 1 night. Based on the other reviews I'm glad we decided to take our business else where.

Totally sold out (no other rooms available) weekend (local football game) and room had no water to either the shower or toilet. The sink worked. When management was contacted, I was told to wait five days for the manager to get back to me. No call, so I called again. Told that "missed manager by 10 minutes." and then was told the toilet and shower worked just fine. Yeah, right. Carpet was gross feeling. Room refrigerator froze everything. Burn marks on furniture and carpet. Linens had unclean looking spots. Cost $200 for two nights. Rip off
