The young man that helped me didn't understand that I wanted an SUV. He kept telling me that my insurance company would only pay $16 a day he didn't understand I didn't care about that. Plus it was very difficult to talk to him cuz he had this gigantic wad of gum in his mouth that he was chomping on and slurping it?

Definitely believe these 1 star reviews. Completely rude staff and unwilling to work with customers. The vehicle we registered online was not available when we went to pick it up. Our options were to downgrade (no price difference reimbursement was discussed) or upgrade for an extra $30/day. They should have given us the upgrade at no cost difference, as it was not our fault the vehicle we reserved was not available. We decided not to rent from here and go elsewhere.ALSO! Be aware that it can be difficult to get on the phone with a human being in customer service for this company as a whole. No one could provide us with proof that we would be reimbursed our full amount. No receipt and no confirmation that we had infact canceled and would not be charged.

The people who are in charge of this location are CROOKS. I have been charged extra charges in the total of almost $300 with NO EXPLANATION for the last two rentals i've had here.

Hertz has had hundreds of legit renters wrongly arrested for auto theft. People are losing their jobs over it. Showing police a valid lease agreement does nothing. It’s all because of drastic short staffing,

My experience… In one word… ClusterF!They don’t pay the people that run these nearly enough! I dropped off a vehicle Wednesday afternoon, communicated with perch on multiple occasions, and it still took over a week for them just to pick up the vehicle. Meanwhile, I get two separate emails from Hertz. One, even after I told them where the car was. The first person I spoke with, didn’t document my initial call. Unbelievable!

If I could give this place negative stars, I definitely would. The customer service I received was subpar. I was treated like my business meant nothing. No compassion, no concern, no help. Was told something was policy, but called other branches and was told that is NOT their policy. I even called ans spoke with customer service and they didn't see a problem. Then after sitting 1 hour trying to get the car I reserved, they had the nerve to charge my credit card. I feel like I was discriminated against and not welcomed to rent from them. I will be calling the BBB. My advice to you is to not rent from the Urbandale branch, use another location. Oh and the person telling me all of this was the supervisor. Then called me the next day at 7:30am, after I rebooked online and said " This is Hertz, we don't have any cars for you until next Wednesday." I told him I booked online and he said "yeah, sorry we're out of cars, okay?" and then ended the call.

I made a reservation online using a cc on 9/10/23. I went to pick up the car the morning of 9/16/23. As they requested, I brought the cc that was used to make the reservation along with my drivers license. They had me put my cc in their machine. It would not read my chip and so I tried to swipe it. This too would not read. At this, they told me that they could not rent to me. Yes, I was not happy with the situation. I went home and checked my cc account. The charge had already been posted to my account. I called my cc company and filed a dispute. I used this company numerous times for work and have never had a problem. I can't say that I will be back.

John is always so friendly and helpful. Our rental was in great condition and very comfortable for our trip. Highly recommend this Hertz location!

Worst experience. The airport location is closed so early and end up booking in local at outside airport. The owner always makes trouble to the renters. Not sure how hearts corporate is holding this branch with bad experience. My company have code share with hertz, I don’t have choice to go other rental car.

Just don't do it! I booked an economy car, paid, called in advance to make sure that the type of car would be available. The car was not available. They charged 500 as a deposit. The car they had was disgusting. Blue elantra with stains everywhere. Bald tires, troubles with acceleration, wipers were shot, not vacuumed or wiped down, AND HAIR WRAPPED AROUND THE DIALS. The Asian guy claimed to be the manager. Rude as can be, pushing his liberal political agenda. Bad spray tan dude. Go to the Ankeny location instead behind the chevy dealer. Soooo much better. Noah and the guys there will take care of you sooo much better. If I could give the Urbandale a 0 I would.

I reserved a car when I went to pick it up they said they didn't have any cars. I pointed out there there are several cars outside the representative said those were already reserved. The website clearly shows that they have availabile cars, they have cars on the lot but the representative said they don't! He said you need to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance. I have rented cars for 15+ years I have never encountered a situation like this.
