love this grocery store! the location is so convenient and they have everything we need. usually not super busy. everyone is friendly. wish they were open later but i’m a night owl lol. so glad it’s in our neighborhood!

The older Fareway up the road a couple of miles has better quality produce, breads and meats. They were low on selections, too the day I visited. Staff is lovely and helpful at both stores. I'll go to the one behind Wells Fargo on Hickman from now on.

Newly opened store in mid-May '23, so I was excited to visit for the 1st time today. In 6-wks time since the opening, the store doesn't offer much variety & the quality was lacking today.As per all Fareways, meat is supposed to be their crowning glory, but it comes with a very pricey cost. You can get better quality at same or slightly more cost at Whole Foods. In 1-yr of living in Waukee, I don't find their meat to be any better than what's found in any other store. In fact, of all places, Walmart has the best quality meat. One caution is their on-sale meats, like all stores, seems a bit off in taste & color, so as per usual, discount meats are discounted for a reason. I've regretted the discounted meat I've purchased at another Fareway.Today's pros:* Like other Fareways, employees are helpful, friendly & move along quickly.* Nice clean store.* Half & half... produce in the middle bins was good quality. Anything in the lettuce realm left a lot to be desired in quality & price. You know those $3.99 small bowls of Bistro salad at Walmart? Well, different brand but same size are $7 here... quality is grim. Today's cons:* Most bread & bagels were stale. No English muffins. Nothing in the way of whole grain breads like Ezekial or Dave's. I bought a small loaf of Sota keto oat bread, the only loaf/brand I could find that was soft, for far more than I wanted to pay.* If they had a beer/wine aisle, they hid it well cuz I didn't find it.I wasn't impressed, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt in that I visited the store on a 92+ degree day the day before the 4th of July... the store was fairly crowded & maybe all the good stuff disappeared before I arrived at 2pm.There's another Fareway on the same street but 1-2 miles closer, so I'll just visit that one if I want to go to Fareway. Honestly, Aldi has better produce at a better price & Walmart has better quality & price meat, so I'll stay with those. Hy-Vee on Hickman is my go-to for quick grabs, but that's onlyt as it's next door to my apt complex. Overall, I'm disappointed with the supermarkets in the Waukee area as a whole.2.5-3* out of 5. Go to Walmart for better offerings.
