Communication was difficult with this company as one needed to keep calling in order to get a response. Then when they canceled our move, evidently because their movers quit, they also canceled one of the other services we had planned to buy from them. At least they did call and inform us of the cancellation which we appreciated even though it was rather short notice for a move.

I highly recommend Hecks. I had my father scheduled to move into assisted living on August 12, two days after the Derecho Storm that hit Cedar Rapids.I was able to get in touch with Becky, the owner of the business, through Facebook.Phone service was down, and Becky went above and beyond facilitating the move, including a personal visit to the assisted living residence. Communications were excellent, and I was kept advised of any changes.A week later, when the bedroom furniture had not yet been delivered by the store it was purchased from, I contacted Hecks again for assistance. Hecks was able to pick up his furniture and assemble it by the date needed, on short noticeMy sincere gratitude to the Heck's team for their 5 star customer service.

05-07-2020: Today was the second time that I have hired Heck's. Because the first move was so successful, they are the ONLY movers I even considered for the job. From the first day that I contacted the company, they provided continual communication. I was never left questioning the status of availability or timeliness of the contract. Three employees arrived on time, and the lead person contacted me just prior to arrival to verify the location and access to the facility. We did a thorough walk-through of the spaces prior to any movement, and the on-site paperwork was explained in detail. Each item that was being moved was handled with great care and respect, with several items being wrapped for security. One table had a couple of loose wheels on the bottom. These were removed and placed in the drawer, then the drawer was sealed closed with plastic wrap so the wheels wouldn't be lost. I have several large pictures that are highly valuable, and these were also protected with wrap or blankets so they wouldn't be damaged. Each employee was courteous and pleasant, respecting my space and belongings. Many times they also offered helpful hints as to how an item could be cared for long term, since my items were moving from an office environment to a storage unit. Once the office was completely loaded onto the truck, the employees met me at the storage unit, and with the same care, unloaded each item, and placed them where I could easily access if needed. The final paperwork was again explained in detail. Fees were explained and agreed upon in the original contract. As with the first move, I am again very happy and pleased with the professionalism and attitude of the organization and its employees. I will gladly encourage everyone I know to use this company for their moving services, as they will not be disappointed. 5 STARS!

We were overcharged and lied to. Nothing except the furniture went to consignment. We paid for a clean out which included sorting items for consignment, donation and trash. The amount of furniture and Knick knacks left to be cleared out of the home was far less than what was included in the “not-to-exceed” estimate. We were told that if we had less stuff to clear out, the price would be less than the “not-to-exceed” estimate. Not so; Becky charged $1,729.00 above the estimate when the cubic feet of items to clear was far less than what was included in the estimate. (Becky does not dispute this fact.) Becky’s staff said they talked to Deb at Stuff, Inc. and was told Stuff is not accepting glass Knick knacks. Not true because we just dropped off several boxes of glass Knick knacks at Stuff which they happily accepted. So we don’t know where the expensive figurines went because Becky won’t send us the donation receipts. And she didn’t take any of the expensive items to sell except for the large furniture. (Although it took her staff 2 days to drop things at donation!!!) We have asked on several occasions where these items went, but no response. I will admit that Tarin in the office has sent several offensive emails citing the terms of the contract but none of her comments address the above except for what she claims she learned from Stuff, Inc. And I did receive a rambling voice message (more than 4 minutes long) from Becky which addressed various issues, but she failed to respond to my actual inquiries because SHE NEVER READ MY EMAILS HERSELF!!!!! More to follow because i am going to continue to investigate despite Becky’s failure to respond to specific questions or to provide the necessary tax documentation requested.
