this is not a review of all hawkeye gas stations but the gas station on the corner of Johnson ave and short street. firstly, The customer service is terrible. The clerk is always on his cell the phone and you're barely acknowledged as he rings in your items. there is never any washing fluid at the gas pumps for cleaning your windshield. and lastly, the air compressor/vacuum machine isn't currently working. It be a big deal. someone would post an out of order sign. however, they put a small sign on the top of the machine that says we do not own this machine or issue refunds call this number. there's nothing wrong with that but there should also be a corresponding out of order sign indicating there is currently a problem with the machine. I went into the station to let the guy know that he should post an out of order sign and he told me he posted a sign on the top of the machine. I said I saw that sign. You also need an out of order sign on there and he argued with me and wouldn't listen to what I was saying. It was ridiculous.

Not a very chic convenience store/gas station. Not much parking available and the gas pumps are close by, so it may present a problem getting in or out of a spot sometimes. The staff is very friendly. Only one restroom, and it's pretty spartan. Don't expect much in terms of getting something for lunch, basic hotdogs and pizza.

Correct me if I'm wrong..But this to me is pathetic!! Jim worked for Hawkeye Convenience on Johnson ave for 15 years!! He was stricken with cancer and hospitalized..Once he got the ok to go back..They said they'd take him back at a $2.25 deduction in his pay! Anyone have any ideas?? Is this even legal? I for one will never walk in this store again! This is public so share if you like! and give Hawkeye your thoughts on this please! Pathetic!!
