This is my favorite hotel for short-term and long-term visits in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. Stayed in 2023 and 2024.CleanQuietAffordable~ Prices are competitive and cheaper than other hotels. For long term guests, they have discounts for weekly and monthly stays. I've stayed in other hotels and JLL's rates are the best in town.~ Ideally situated close to UNI. The hotel is located on University Ave, so you're next to all the businesses, restaurants, and shopping options. 7-minute drive to the options on Viking Road/Ave of the Saints area and about 15-minute drive to the shopping hub on San Marnan Drive and La Porte Road.~ The exterior is older, but many of the interior rooms (including the one I stayed in) have been recently remodeled. They also have spacious studios available for rent with extra closet space and a kitchenette.~ They have an exercise room, but I didn't really use it because the equipment is older, and that room is noticeably colder than the rest of the hotel. I did enjoy walking the hallways of the hotel when I wanted to walk outside but couldn't because of snow or bad weather. You can't tell from the outside, but the hotel is spacious, multi-leveled, with multiple wings.~ I also didn't utilize the many streaming apps they had on the TV, but it's nice that they have them available.~ As a non-smoker, I really appreciated that they kept smoking and non-smoking guests in separate wings of the hotel and enforced the non-smoking rule in the non-smoking section. Too many times to count, I've requested a non-smoking room in various hotels and had to change rooms because there was the strong odor of weed or cigarette smoke from the previous guests.~ All staff (management, front desk, maintenance, and housekeeping) are friendly, helpful, and accommodating.Walkability: easy walking distance to businesses, restaurants, and shoppingFood & drinks: close to businesses, restaurants, and shopping

I'm currently staying for a few months and yeah it is not the the Ritz but for what it is, it is excellent, clean rooms, friendly service and great location to shopping, food ,bars and University avenue a major hub to get around. So if you're on a budget this is a great place to stay whether it's for one night a week or months ?

We all have bad days. My stay was enjoyable and uneventful. The kind of place you want to keep for yourself. Best value in the cedar valley. No frills accommodations.Noteworthy details: Be mindful of the deposit return policy.

Was stuck staying here for a period of time. Had rips in the carpet that caused a tripping hard, was dirty and has to be cleaned before moving things in. The bath tub would fill up with dirty water when the upstairs neighbors would wash dishes or flush toilet. I caught COVID even though I was isolated. (Except for unsanitary conditions) Upon moving out completely cleaned the room from to to bottom and was never given my deposit back. Will never recommend to anyone....... EVER!!!

I love it there. Staff are so friendly and attentive. Maintenance came same day and fixed any issue we had, with a smile! Also, extremely affordable and rooms are comfy and cozy. Rooms have air and cable and full bathrooms. Loved it! Best stay in town so far.

Long-term resident. I love it here. It's got character. Very friendly/professional staff. I've only seen them get firm with guests who are causing issues. I'll give you a few tips if you are deciding on trying it out. There are many long-term residents here who know each other well, along with some shorter-term guests. We enjoy peace and quiet, respect each other/neighbors, follow basic property rules, have an eye out for safety, and like a clean place. There are people here from kids to elderly folks, and many of us do our part to look out for each other. If you share these same values and exhibit them, you will do just fine. Most of the time, 100% of the people are a part of the above. When it dips to 99%, then many of us residents turn the cogs to make a quick correction. From my experience, here's what doesn't work...Us residents have a low tolerance for guests who are excessively noisy, meth head scum, have domestic abuse issues and other outbursts, or bring in up-to-no-good gutter trash guests and other riff-raff. Residents will nark/hand over these people to the police like a hot Cedar Falls potato 24/7.People who are also rude to us residents, are disgusting slobs who live in filth (hard to hide the odors around here, so just clean your stuff up), or cause unnecessary drama around the property don't last long, either. They are easy to turn into management because they piss enough people off quickly. You can't hide these issues, no matter how hard one tries, because we live close together. Thankfully, these situations are rare because residents have a low tolerance for this stuff.I don't recommend JLL if you have the above issues wherever you may live now. They likely won't magically disappear the instant you come here. Just being real and trying to save you a lot of money, trouble, and/or jail time.Other than that, the cable is pretty good.

Seems to be under new management. After staying one year, the new manager, Joe, whom I had never met decided to steal my deposit. Tisk, tisk, tisk.

Husband booked a room for a week, stayed one day and now he’s in the hospital. I was told to call after 330 today so management could let me in but when I called, the management still refuses to let me into his room to get his things, told me after his stay expires they’ll bag it themselves and hold for 30 days, even if He calls them, and I bring his card, id, and room receipt they still won’t let me in. He could be in the hospital longer than 30 days. So he probably won’t be getting any of his things back. He won’t be staying here anymore, neither will I. In case of emergency, staff gets first pick of personal belongings! But what can you expect out of a place that’s falling apart on the outside!

I was very impressed. JLL exceeded my expectations by a long shot. This facility has a long history, for sure, but all of the necessary amenities are included and updated. Not the friendless staff but very competent and efficient. I DO recommend JLL.
