Every year, they sent me an e-mail and a couple snail mail letters to let me know that it was going to be time to renew soon. I had a monthly or annual option. Rates were cheap (way cheaper than where I live now!), and it was effortless and easy. A bit more reminder/snail mail letters that I really needed, but it wasn't overwhelming or spammy.
