I ordered 10 lbs. of kippered beef jerky on 1/17. They shipped it on 1/18. It arrived on 1/22 at 6:16pm.I got back in town on 1/23 at 8pm. I opened it up excited to taste it. The vac-sealed bag was not sealed and almost 3/4 of the bag of jerky has mold on it. It was so gross and I put it in the trash.I was looking at it and wondering how beef jerky that I paid $85 for could be full of mold growth after just receiving it. I read online that jerky can start growing mold after 4-5 days if left in the open and not immediately sealing it up and either refrigerating or freezing it. I see it was shipped on 1/18/24 and arrived on my front porch yesterday evening, 1/22/24 at 6:16pm which is 4 days and today would be day 6.I noticed a cut mark/hole in the shipping box and went out to my trash can in the garage to examine the vac-seal bag the jerky was in and whatever punctured the shipping box had penetrated the vac-sealed bag and that's why there was air in the bag allowing mold to grow.I had planned to take the 10 lb. bag of jerky with me when I go on a fishing trip on Friday to share with 6 of my friends...but, evidently, I can't do this now.I wasted $85 for moldy beef jerky? I am extremely disappointed. Somewhere along the shipment process, the box was punctured allowing air into the vac-seal bag and destroyed the jerky.I attached a few pictures. You can see the mold on a majority of the beef and I don't trust eating the other pieces in the bag because they are probably contaminated too and I don't care to get sick!
