I did not have an appointment and they charged me 30.00 just for walking through the DOOR with my dog that had blood coming out of his rear.

Wonderful veterinarian clinic! I was 900 miles away from home when my Husky started having issues. I called at 3:30 in the afternoon, very frantic. Even though they were extremely busy, they managed to get us in within the hour. It was super hectic on arrival, many cats and dogs were waiting to be seen.. I can’t say how thankful I am for finding this place. This doctor is very thorough, kind, and knowledgeable. Great team of staff members all around!

If it was allowed, I'd give ZERO stars.I've been a client with summer st for years. About 3 ½ months ago my dog Daisy became very sick. I took her there, and they ran a bunch of tests, all which they said was negative results. So they prescribed pills after pills with no results. After spending hundreds of dollars there, we decided to take her somewhere else. They ran all kinds of tests, and called us within a couple days. She has a severe case of ringworm. Supposedly summer st. Had tested her for that months ago. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

We had to put our dog, Zeus to sleep tonight. Very, hard, sad decision. We would like to thank Summer Street Animal for everything they have done through the years. Excellent care. The staff is excellent.

I previously have had good experiences here, however this visit was awful. My senior dog became very ill and I had to schedule an emergency appointment. The two assistants that were working at the time were very unprofessional. After we had to euthanize my dog due to his age and illness, my boyfriend walked outside and overheard the two discussing our situation. They started, "Why would she (referring to me) consider a blood transfusion for a dog that big, they should just put it down." They stopped talking when they saw my boyfriend. Very shortly after I had lost my dog, one of the assistants walks in to hurry me out stating,"we are closed, I just wanted to let you know that, we are trying to leave but take your time." I felt rushed and they seemed completely indifferent, if anything they seemed annoyed that I wanted time to say goodbye to my dog. I had him cremated and when I went to put up his remains, one of the assistants was there and as she looked at me told another assistant, "That's the one." To which the second assistant shook her head.I don't understand why they are discussing clients in such a manner, especially when they are facing a very hard decision and want to know what options are available to them in hopes of keeping their companion alive. People should not be judged or made to feel stupid for asking questions regarding options for their pet, even if it is expensive and unlikely to work, clients should be able to have all the information they need in order to make a decision. This experience made an already difficult time even more difficult and I will not be back here.As a side note my dog's ashes were placed in a plastic container which looks almost exactly like a protein mix container, without the label. It felt disrespectful to see him in something like that. His ashes on the white container on the left, my workout mix on the right. Peel the label off and they are exactly the same other then the colour.

10/10 office visit, was able to get a same day appt, staff was very patient and caring (went above and beyond) provided the best care and treatment plan, I left there feeling like my pet was in the best possible hands. I know I’m just another appt to them but they made me feel like I was the only appt there. EXCEPTIONAL!

Horrible. My kitten had his rabies vaccine here and was completely paralyzed by the next morning. Died four days later. The secretaries kept mixing up his file with other animals and didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Please do NOT take your pet here.

Summer Street has been amazing! The staff is always so friendly! I adopted my first pet from the humane society and I’ve brought him to them since the first visit, we’ve gone there for almost two years now. They helped me get started with being a pet owner by giving recommendations and tips, always find a way to work with my schedule, answer all my questions no matter how ridiculous they are, and are very cooperative with my cat even when he’s being a grouch.

I adopted a kitten a couple of days ago and had to take her here to get tested for a feline disease. Everyone was so friendly, and even explained a couple of things about the disease they tested for. They even cleaned out her ears since they noticed she might have ear mites and put the medicine on for me.

The entire team is professional, kind and knowledgeable. They treat my dogs with gentleness and do the treatments in the exam room - not in the treatment area. Every Vet has been amazing at explaining what’s going on and why. Highly recommend! I drive from Ft Madison for my fur kids to be seen here!

Would not recommend if you have a sick pet. They were great getting me in because i was a new client but they didn't listen to me. I wanted bloodwork and xrays because my cat was losing weight and vomiting. They proceeded to tell me they didn't want to do that and wanted to try meds first so prescribed her a dewormer(which the fecal was negative) and an anti diarrhea medicine(which she didn't have diarrhea). i was a vet assistant for 6 years i think i would know what i want to do with my animal. A week went by and she still wasn't doing good so i took her to another vet for a second opinion and they did an xray and found 3 masses that were cancer. So shout out to summer street for not taking my cats sickness serious.

Love the staff, always helpful and very friendly. Love the fact they all know my dog by sight and call him by his name and know of his ongoing health issues.
