The 2nd star is only for their staff personel example their property management team secretary/maintenance crew(not the mcknights themselves) just the people who work for them and all they have to accommodate to follow there orders.)Renting from them is awful, they violated there end of the lease, try to overcharge on utilities and blame you for this when bringing it up to them. They also come right up to your step and take your personal belongings as well, in a very sneaky manor might I add(our doorbell camera caught this happening this morning. Dee speaks to tenants in a very patronizing way that is absolutely unacceptable on a professional level. Should definitely work on communication skills.. Wish I hasn't leased with them but it was a last minute and only option. Can't wait to be out and done with them completely. I'm only giving a fair answer honest review here from my experience. Hopefully everyone else who rents from them in the future has a much better experience and is treated well. Don't let them pull one over on you as they definitely will.Hope this is helpful to anyone who reads these reviews

I stayed at one of their rentals for 2 years. Moving around a lot for work- I've dealt with some real characters for landlords. I've been cheated and taken to the cleaners more than once. McRentals were straight forward and did not try to short change me anywhere. If an issue arose, it was dealt with in less than a week (if that). Responses were fast- the property is extremely clean and well kept. Once someone moves out- the place is practically remodeled each time. It's very nice knowing you're going in to a clean updated facility. Also, I love that their application process is so thorough. It makes me feel safe and secure knowing they're selective on who they let in to their property.

Have rented from this organization for years. Competitive prices. Easy to work with. The property management team works hard to please their customers. They are giving kind people who give back to this community ten fold!

This is the place to go when you're looking for a clean, comfortable home or apartment. Super responsive landlords with a great property selection. If you're looking for commercial property in Boone or the surrounding area, they're the #1 place to call. Highly Recommend.

I have rented for the last few years from McKnights. I have never had any issues with them as landlords. I personally feel that for all the people who are complaining, or giving a bad review are typically either tenants that do not pay their rent, or fail to take care of the unit in which they are "renting". If you pay your rent, keep your place clean and take care of the property there is never an issue. Thank you for all your hard work and being great landlords. I appreciate all of you in the office. It takes a great deal to be owners, managers and maintenance for apartment rentals.

I've lived in one of their apartments for 3 yrs now. I love it here. I'm very happy with how well they take care of me and the apartment. If I've had to put in request for maintenance they respond quickly.

I was denied tenancy despite a complete willingness to meet the property managers demands and the ability to finance the lease. I was treated unprofessionally and met with disrespect. There was no attempt made to contact my previous landlords or evidence that I would make a poor tenant. The property manager had the audacity to cite an old deferred paraphernalia charge as a barrier, using the words, "I have an issue with that drug charge." In an attempt to correct her, she insisted that possession of paraphernalia was no different than possession of controlled substance, using the words, "It's still a drug charge." Bald assertions based on generalization or stereotype aren't sufficient. Refusing to rent to someone for a petty misdemeanor, although legal, is discriminatory and ignorant.

If I could leave anything less than a 1 star I would. The landlords are absolutely AWFUL! The building is filthy and crawling with bugs! Not even a month of living here did we get an infestation of bugs (which they blamed on us, even though we were informed about an infestation that they “took care of†before moving in). There are also cockroaches the size of your fingers crawling around and when putting in a maintenance order they simply say that it came from outside and it's nothing to worry about. The elevator breaks down every week it seems like or there is some kind of issue. It is not worth the cheap rent, do yourselves a favor and spend the extra cash on a place with better landlords.

Unlike some potential landlords who were overly suspicious and made the rental application process seem more like a mistrusting inquisition than a mutually respectful landlord/tenant relationship, Dee and McRentals staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Previous good and honorable landlords in Boone who, on my last move, did want me back, regretfully either had nothing available or the rent was just too high for me. Thank you, McRentals, for being there for honest, responsible people who, through no fault of their own, fall on hard times --don't have the income to pay extravagant rent on lavish apartments—yet, still deserve the benefit of the doubt and a safe, comfortable home. Sadly, there are some tenants who take advantage of kindhearted landlords. Rather than acknowledge their responsibilities as a tenant, they blame their poor behavior on the very helping hand that was extended in trust. When renting, it's not just the space that makes the home, but the balanced feeling of being looked after and cared for while enjoying one's privacy, and McRentals has always been very kind to me in all these matters, thank you.

We moved to Boone in December if 2016. The staff at MCRentals have been wonderful. When we moved here my disabled brother was living with us. We enjoyed and trusted the people that I rented him a home from this also. He is happy,

I tried to call and see how one would take their name off of a lease. They didn't offer a lease break fee, a change of parties so the resident could get their name off the lease while the roommate stays or even a subleasing. I'm truly unimpressed how they “run†their property. They told a resident I know, “It's like taking out a loan. Once your name is on it you're screwed.†I get their point but that is TERRIBLE management.

Mrs.Mckight has shown great compassion and understanding. 11 years aga I had no idea how I was going to find a place to live. I went to her office and explained the situation I was going through and even with an eviction on my rental history she took a chance and rented me a real nice duplex and I have been at the same address ever since and any time there was an issue with my ability to make rent she has been willing to take payments. As far as maintenance she has made sure any issue was dealt with in a timely manner even showed up on a early Sunday morning to fix an issue that morning
