Love First Interstate Bank! The people there are always so kind and welcoming. Today I went in and was having a rough morning because there was a problem with my account and they were very understanding, walked me through how the problem happened, and helped me fix it.

Great customer service! The management there is top notch! I’ve always had a fabulous experience getting my questions answered and getting prompt professional attention every time I’ve gone in!

Their drive up ATM was designed for lifted trucks. If you’re driving a sedan I’d recommend going to a different one, you won’t be able to reach the touch screen.

Worst bank ever. Since they switched from Great Western to First Interstate my wife and I have had NOTHING but problems with this bank.

The customer service I have received at the Ankeny location from Abby, and many others, is the reason I have stayed with Great Western for the last 4 years. I have had not great experiences at some of the other locations but I know I can always count on the people in Ankeny to take care of anything that comes up. I don’t even live in Ankeny anymore, but I will continue to bank with them.

I pretty much have always had an amazing experience at Great Western, to the point where walking in a lot of tellers knew me by name which was so cool!! Today I talked on the phone with Ciera, and she was SO kind and helped me out so much on a mistake that I now realize was 100% my fault and tbh kinda embarrassing! Anyways, if you’re looking for a good bank with friendly staff and even better customer service this is DEFINITELY the bank you’ll wanna switch to!

Ankeny branch is the only one I have used. And they always have great customer service.Very friendly. Any questions or concerns ,they were fast to answer and fix immediately.

Wow. Just wow. I called my local branch (Ankeny, Iowa) to ask a simple quick question, how long does it take to transfer money between my accounts through the app. Should have been a 30 second call. She answered , didn't even let me get a single word out before telling me I needed to call back in 10 minutes.
Other issue... kid needed gas last night, so i transferred money between my accounts so.he could put gas in the car... turns out Great Western Bank HOLDS the money for 1 business day... so even though MY money thats already in my account is just moving ro another account, they hold my own money from me, so my kid was stranded, and i had to leave my house at 10pm and drive to himjust to run my card that has $50 still missing since its being held in internet space . They pull it out of one account and it just sits and doesnt go to the other account.
Website is outdated and not convenient.
Funny enough, literally ANY OTHER bank offers instant transfers between bank accounts. I can move money from savings to checking and have instant access... but not here.
Just joined this bank due to proximity in a new town...and i really REALLY find it disappointing.

I have banked in Ankeny Great Western for over 3 years. Was at the one in Ames Pryer to that for over 2 years. The one in Ankeny is ridiculous.

These guys are horrible. On April 30th, '18; I took my daughter to this place to help her get a checking account set up. We got there just after 4pm and we're told that it would be a short while, as the girl had a 4:15 appointment. That's fine and understandable. So after 20 minutes of waiting, the Mortgage manager comes over to me and says it "shouldn't be too much longer", ok, annoying but still fine. Then at 4:53 one of the tellers comes over to us and asks if we could come back the following day! I told her no, we'd go over to Community State Bank by Walmart (which we did, we got there at the lobby closing time.....but they still took care of us!)

I've banked here for almost 5 years now and have never had a problem. Everyone is friendly and super helpful.
