We have taken our dog Lucy to this clinic for 7 years. They give great service, and usually can get you in for an appt very quickly. Lucy goes to Dr. Katie, who is very good with her. Dr. Katie does not push off medications and things that aren't needed. We trust Dr. Katie, the whole staff with doing the best they can for Lucy!

Spoke to Stacey regarding transferring our dogs care to them. She was very pleasant and explained things as I asked. Took our dogs there quite awhile back but left and I am not sure why. Seemed like it eWorld be a great place to go to for dog care. Searched vets and was impressed. Will be transferring care there when I get home from hospital. Nice to hear a person on the phone that sounds like she is smiling and happy to talk to you and answer your questions without sounding like a robot with no care. A place to go where you would feel like you and your pets matter.

Dr. Barb and office staff have been nothing but amazing. When we put our cat, Shyanne down, we got a card in the mail from them! Our doggie, Ty has no problem going there and we like all of the girls.

Dr Barb, vet techs, front desk & girls that do boarding are all the best. We wouldn't take our pugs anywhere else. Whomever said front desk staff is rude has a real problem. They have always been more than accommodating getting our pugs in. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. I tried a few others & wasn't satisfied in the least. Thanks Dr Barb & all the docs, techs, and my friends at the front desk.

One receptionist is rude and tries to make me feel guilty if I cannot get in my cat sooner. The last time I brought in my cat for a cyst on the tail, they first suggested I put her down. When I said no, they then suggested I cut off her tail. I now go to a vet 45 mins away who is loving and gives my cat excellent care.

I was a very long time client of this vet. I had to move out of state so when I did I bought over $500 worth of insulin for my cat. It lasted me until right now. Every state handles things differently and mine none of the vets will dispense insulin (even with a script) unless you are their client. Plus, none of them even keep it in stock and tell you to locate the insulin however you can. Super helpful, I know! So, since my pet is not due for his check up until November I went through an online pet supply store and clinic to purchase the insulin I needed. Completely legit place. So, I ordered it. The store reached out to ankeny vet clinic for the script. Ankeny Vet Clinic's response was they refuse to work with online stores such as this. Apparently this is their policy. I spoke with someone on the phone who offered to reach out to my state about it. They called me back and verified everything we had already spoken about and ultimately said there was absolutely nothing they could do besides fax a script to me. Considering everyone wants and original (which I said to them) it wasn't a helpful answer. I simply said never mind, I'll figure it out, bye.... and hung up. So, needless to say I am less than pleased with AVC and would never return to them. Sure, they are happy to take your money when things work the way they want them to but when other places/states do things outside of their box they won't/can't help you. Hint to AVC- you are behind the times. The world is internet based as are most stores. You know.... Kmart is going out, Macy's is closing, Sears..... All because people are buying online. I know this review won't mean much to most people but this whole interaction meant a lot to me. Frustrating

I personally had one bad experience one year ago this month. My dog was very sick when my wife took her to my normal vet, Ankeny Vet Clinic. They insisted on setting up an appointment to which my wife said, no there is something seriously wrong with my dog and I need a vet to look at her. They stated they did not have the time to look at her and she would need an appointment. My wife and I were very angry by the treatment we received so we took her to an emergency vet to which we discovered she had a tumor. Long story short, we ended up taking her to Ankeny Animal & Avian Clinic and they were wonderful. But I had to put her down that night. They were very loving and took very good care of her. They even sent me a condolences card signed by all the people who work there which was very sweet. I will be bringing my animals here from this point forward.

We had an emergency visit during office hours to this vet and I was impressed. Staff are friendly, doctor knowledgeable and non-pushy. Clean, pet safe environment. Very much recommend.
