My wife’s been in her regular exam for over 1.5 hours on a Saturday morning at this point. Doc miffed the prescription and is making her wait while he does the next patient. Incredibly poor clinic.

I recently went to America’s best and Ankeny, although the reviews were not great as they were highly recommended by a friend. I had great help picking them out from staff and when I called with some concerns, I received great customer service on the phone and in the store addressing it. Thank you.

I went thing it was a good place for glasses nope.the eye examination was rushed..and when I got my glasses they where wrong couldn't see so now I had to wait a week and half went back in for the second time and the glasses where still wrong couldn't see right it was like a fish blow. The lady tried to tell me it was fine she has the same eye sight I lol no is the same she tried to argue with at that point I ask for the refund I'll take my business some where else.

If I could give the eye doctor 0 stars I would. I’ve wore glasses for 24 years and have never had this bad of an eye appointment. He told me to look through the Machine and read the first line. The only problem with that is the machine wasn’t even over my eyes so that’s red flag number one number two he doesn’t even get me to a lens that I can see out of and maybe adjust the machine three or four times moves the machine away I expressed that I couldn’t see Still and all I got back was i know.
How this man guessed my prescription I have no idea all I know is I cannot see how the contact lenses he gave me.

Truly concerned that this man is looking at people’s eyes since he obviously doesn’t care because he maybe spent 5 minutes with me.
The people who work up front were wonderful they comped my appointment when i told them what happened. Im only writing this because im genuinely concerned that this man is Checking peoples eyes.

My review is strictly about the America's Best Ankeny location, the glasses and the employees who assisted me in my purchase.
I've worn glasses for 53 years, and I've bought them from a few different places. At America's Best, I dealt with 4 employees for the purchasing of glasses.glassed. These employees are why my review is so favorable.
Ann, Laura, Heather, & Kai. The customer service of all 4 is top notch. From my first call, speaking to Ann, to when I walked in and Ann's help in trying to find my possible insurance coverage was terrific! Laura showed patience, thoughtfulness, & knoweledge when helping me with the frames & types of lenses I wanted, and so did Heather who ended up having to assist Laura because of what I wanted for frames/lenses.
Kai who is the general manager, is also professional, kind, & knowledgeable, & stepped right up without hesitation to give me a 30% discount because my insurance wasn't found anywhere. When I had concerns about the type of lenses I had to use because of the particular frame I wanted, Kai assured me if they aren't what I want (when they come in), a replacement will be done without cost to me.
Even though I felt like I was taking an extremely long time to get what I wanted, I was not rushed in any way through any step of my purchase and each one of the above mentioned people showed kindness, & seemed genuinely to care about any concerns I might have & wanted to help in every way possible to ensure I am a satisfied customer. Every question & concern I had was answered & addressed.
I believe the inventory for frames could be a little better. I wasn't overly thrilled by what they had, however, I did end up finding a couple of frames that I did like and that's what I purchased. Having said that, I must also include, I went to 3 other vision centers that also sell frames. The other store's selection didn't thrill me either, so perhaps it's just my taste in what I prefer. America's Best gets an A ++ for their prices, because the other 3 places I went, were at least twice to three times as much as America's Best, for the same thing, and America's Best has better lense options.
My glasses came in a very timely manner. Both pair were very well made, and quality frames & lenses. I ended up not liking what I chose for frames. I went back in and Kai went above and beyond to help me find 2 other pairs of glasses that I like much better, and ensured that they would work for my particular prescription, without hesitation. Kai is an excellent example of what great customer service should be and an amazing general manager!!
Not only would I recommend America's Best to anyone looking to buy good quality frames and lenses, but I was so pleased with the help I received, the quality of the glasses I originally purchased and the fact that they stand behind their word to replace them if your'e not satisfied for whatever reason, and the pricing, that I took 2 of my older frames in, and had them make prescription sunglasses fir me.
Thank you to the staff at the Ankeny location and especially to Kai, for everything that was done above and beyond to ensure I am a satisfied, happy customer!!!
America's Best exceeded my expectations on every level.

Paid $225 for 2 pairs of nice glasses with 1 pair tailored to night driving and an eye exam AND glaucoma and eye disease test..... money well spent! Thank you! I will definitely be back for my 3rd pair!

If 0 stars was an option I would have picked that. I had an appt to go for an eye exam and glasses and still was there 2 hrs. The eye exam was rushed and I don't feel its accurate. I was trying to do the 2 pairs for $79 whatever. The lady helping with glasses was beyond slow! She told me because of my script I didn't qualify for the 2 pairs deal. Since I wasn't getting 2 pairs then I had to pay for the exam. I have insurance. So I asked her to tell me what 1 pair with an exam would cost and what 2 pairs with exam would cost with and without insurance. While the front desk was entering in my insurance she kept yelling across the room to my husband asking what his bday was and where he worked. He for privacy purposes walked over to her to talk to her. I ended up with 1 pair of glasses and an exam for just shy of $300 even with my insurance. When I asked why so much she just said because of the lenses?! My fault I should have asked more questions but I was tired from being there 2 hours and hungry. Oh I also got a trail pair of contacts as well. I called a week later to see if my glasses were in. Whomever answered immediately said we are busy call back later and HUNG UP! I called back later and they said it would be 2 weeks before my glasses were in. That's not what the website says or what the lady told me at my appt. Then I get a call a few days later saying the contacts I ordered were in. WHAT?! I didn't order contacts I said. She proceeds to tell me they gave me the wrong contacts because they didn't have mine in stock. Why even bother if they weren't right. I told her I would pick them up with my glasses if they ever come in. She said they will be here on Fri. Monday I call to see if they really came in and she says 1 of the 2 pairs I ordered are in. WHAT?! I only ordered 1 pair. I said just forget it I will come in on my lunch break and grab them. I don't even know where to start on picking up my glasses. I was asked if I wanted a hard or soft case for my glasses. I said hard please and she looks at me and says we are all out of hard cases. Then why even offer 1 or the other. There was no order for 2 glasses it was 1 order of glasses and then the contacts they ordered ( i was not charged for) so they knew when they gave them to me that they weren't right. I put the glasses on and I cant see anything!!! I tell the lady that everything is blurry and she tells me that it can take a few weeks to adjust to a new script. I get that there can be an adjustment period but I could see better with my old glasses. I say am I even safe to drive with these and she reply's you can just start wearing them tomorrow. They are glasses lady not an antibiotic. I am 2 days into wearing new glasses as much as possible but still cant see and fighting headaches. I am done waiting to adjust and I am now out $300 and have to go somewhere else for another exam and glasses. I will never return to any America's Best because they are America's Worst! I am also contacting the better business bureau as well.

Look- you dont NEED to get glasses through these guys. just saying. you can get your eye exam and then order glasses online. These guys take roughly 3-4 business days just to CHECK YOU OUT. You will pay around $120 for the cheapest pair of glasses-JUST THE FRAME and then pay for the prescription. The staff is all smiles but super, and i mean SUPER slow. they are not great with complaints- so you better hope your prescription is correct because if it isnt and you cant SEE - they will give you this answer -- you ready --- "it can take up to a few days to a week to get uses to the perscription".....um EXCUSE ME- it could be a WEEK of me using GLASSES and not seeing through them....HA - no thats not correct. - anyways. just skip this business as a whole.

Very short eye exam but a very long appointment with ALOT of waiting. Check out was confusing. This is my second year here and next year I'll go somewhere else !!

As A first time Eyeglass customer Im appalled By the customer service of the Ankeny store. This whole process was a sham basically bait and switch .When I first needed glasses They get you in the door with flashy commercials and signs Then the teeth come out by the time you know it those 99.00 glasses are 799.00 because of add ons that are ridiculous. (ok nice choice glasses now for 99.95 well coat them so you can see. You wanna see right? That and blinker fluid your all set, oh wait 79.95 for screws to attach the arms on the frames, you dont want them to fall of right?) I didnt know about glasses so yeah give me the good screws. 1 yr 18days later needing repairs I fig no problem I have the Titanium screws and hat the blinker fluid filled . Theyll take care of it.....NOPE "your lenses are expired, We dont know what frames you have Were Busy your just going to have to come in" Id rather go blind than go back to Americas Best of the Worst Scams and Eyeglasses. The entire process was barely described, it was disappointing

Arrived for my appointment for them to tell me it was canceled after I drove an hour to get there. A phone call would have been nice. On my last pair of contacts and they’re getting dry & uncomfortable. Thanks America’s BEST, more like Americas WORST.

I don't feel my prescription is correct. I don't feel the exam was thorough . The machine I normally look throw was not used. I feel if had been used my prescription would have been right.

Awesome customer service. everything was quick and efficient and the person who helped me pick out my glasses was a fantastic employee.
