“We had 3 vehicles that needed routine oil changes, we were tired of taking them to a quick shop to have it done so we googled places in Ames & found Fix It Auto & liked what we read under the reviews, so we made an appointment & were extremely happy with their services, they are very thorough. On 1 of our vehicles they found a few things that needed attention & communicated that to us & gave us the option to have them go ahead & replace these things or wait, on the 2nd vehicle they found something that was totally empty so they went ahead & pressure tested it & put fluid back in it & explained to us what they found & told us to keep an eye on it (very appreciative) we bring our 3rd vehicle in this week, we feel we found a place that cares & that will help us maintain our vehicles & the other nice thing is they were very reasonable on the pricing for their services & we will continue to take our vehicles to them.”

“I'm staying in Ames while my mother is in the hospital here. My regular mechanic is in Chicago. I heard a loud noise coming from under my car every time I went over a speed bump in the hospital parking ramp. Took my car to Macky's and asked if they could look at it. A very nice man immediately came out to the parking lot, looked under my car and was able to fix the problem (heat shield had come loose) in a few minutes. He very nicely explained everything to me, made a recommendation to have my mechanic take a look at it when I get back to Chicago, and I was back on the road with no more funny noises a few minutes later. Great experience--definitely would go back if I had another car problem while in Ames.”

“Car X in Ames is the best car shop I’ve been to. Any problems & they got it. The manager Danny is a down to earth really good person & all the staff are nice people too.

This weekend my car randomly started shaking while accelerating & I brought it in first thing Monday. They were super busy, all bays full getting work done & Danny & a crew member stopped what they were doing to diagnose the problem, which was just a bad wire. They fixed the wire for free since it was a small issue but it really meant a lot they’d stop what they’re doing to help me. Plus, the wire they replaced actually turned off a few other lights of mine that have been bugging me but I wasn’t sure how to turn them off.

“Last week on a Friday afternoon, my son was headed to Ames to pick up his brother to bring him back home. His alternator failed on the highway about 50 miles outside of Ames. I managed to get it towed to En-Tire after talking with Jeff multiple times that afternoon. They were the only shop I could find that was open on Saturday to do the work.
Jeff was so nice in calming down a dad who was freaking out that his kid was going to be stuck all weekend with no car. Jeff managed to get the part first thing Saturday morning, and even stayed a bit past their closing time on Saturday afternoon to get the car working again.
