“My tire valve is metal which I was told made it easier to brake since it gets so cold here.Eventually my valve broke and my tire went flat. I brought in my flat tire to them and they took care of me immediately!!! I called them and he was so kind on the phone and told me to come on in. They fixed it in less then 10 minutes (mind you I was a walk in) and then told me to take it and everything was all good. Laid out my choices in terms I could understand and didn’t upsell me when I just wanted it to be drivable and would come back at a later date to get everything completely fixed (sensor) didn’t pressure me into the more expensive option and was overall kind and considerate. “I'm staying in Ames while my mother is in the hospital here. My regular mechanic is in Chicago. I heard a loud noise coming from under my car every time I went over a speed bump in the hospital parking ramp. Took my car to Macky's and asked if they could look at it. A very nice man immediately came out to the parking lot, looked under my car and was able to fix the problem (heat shield had come loose) in a few minutes. He very nicely explained everything to me, made a recommendation to have my mechanic take a look at it when I get back to Chicago, and I was back on the road with no more funny noises a few minutes later. Great experience--definitely would go back if I had another car problem while in Ames.”

I had my EGR Valve replaced on a 2008 Pontiac Torrent. Average time (according to Google) is 1.5hrs and the same frame was given when I dropped my car off; picked it up sooner than that with 30 min shaved off (granted the EGR Valve is easily accessible for my make & model) and the price is pretty fair I think ($136 pre-tax & $145 after). However, I did buy the part myself at a different automotive store so your guesstimate might be different. Pretty at ease overall, straightforward & in and out. Car sounds and feels like it's better already.”
