I have been a member of Planet Fitness here in my community since the end of February 2020, and I am very happy I joined. The club is clean and spacious and has a huge variety of top-quality machines that allow you to tailor your workout however you wish. I especially appreciate not having to deal with the hard-core bodybuilders who find pleasure in dropping or banging the heavy weights to show everyone how strong they are. That noise detracts greatly from the pleasure of the workout experience, and at Planet Fitness, it's not an issue at all. In addition, not only is the gym itself excellent, but also the Planet Fitness App is fantastic. It has a large variety of workout videos that you can do at home and lots of tutorials of the workout machines. Finally, access to the Black Card Spa is included with your Black Card membership, and that gives you access to massage chairs, Hydro Massage lounge chairs and flat tables, and the Total Body Enhancement machine. I am so happy that Planet Fitness is here. It provides a much-welcomed addition to the fitness facilities here in my city.

Terrible company. How stupid that you have to cancel a GYM membership in person. Way to expensive and rude staff.

No trainer so no classes but they still have them on the website. Canceling is a ridiculous joke and they'll take it from your bank account if you cancel it on your card. I'm not terribly happy with the place ? but there is decent equipment and you can work out hence the 3 stars.

They set up a cell phone in the algorithm to bill you all. Problem is that manager left and the new manager isn’t smart enough to change the algorithm or ask someone to help. Hence, you all receive my phone number on your bank statements. Very unprofessional company.

The staff and especially the manager of pf North ames is very rude and unprofessional. Would not recommend to get membership at all. You have to pay extra $50 as annual fee on the top of $10 every month and the way they market on flyers is misleading. I have cancelled my membership for good.

They are known thieves. Steal from members once you sign up with your credit card or allow auto-deductions from your bank account. Plus they get really angry when you call them on it. They make you do ridiculous things to stop taking your money - like handwriting letters requesting to stop, and then having to deliver them in person! This place should be shut down. Stay far away.

My first gym experience and I love it so much. The atmosphere is non threatening and relaxed, I was shy about trying, but the staff is so helpful and kind. There's a lot of equipment for many different workouts and QR codes on the machines to give a guide on how to use them. Super nice!

Have started my morning here everyday for the last year or so. Awesome machines, pricing, staff, etc. Great gym environment, and the cheapest option here in Ames.

this gym, does not open when it is supposed too- usually on Sundays, since Jan at least twice a month- we, the customers go, and no one is there- we are charged monthly, and a 45.00 additional fee fee in march for "maintenance" on top of my monthly fee. I am annoyed- im being charged additionally for a gym I cant use, because its never open when it is supposed too. on top of that the manager is very rude, when I inquired why they can not get the gym open on time

Manager is so unfriendly! I’ll always say hi and goodbye, thank you, etc.. She will rarely ever respond or greet anyone who walks in. This makes me feel extremely unwelcome. I can’t imagine how other people feel because of this especially since this is a gym!!! It’s often an uncomfortable place as is! If anything I feel bad for everyone whom works under her. She also rarely looks up from her computer while speaking and quite frankly I’ve never seen her smile. Manager of pf in Ames, if you’re reading this: find a new job! Your clearly not happy and you’re projecting your negative mindset upon your customers.The worst thing about all of this is that many people in your reviews agree and still nothing has changed.

The mirrors are dirty the help was on their phone. I asked when the mirrors get cleaned and they said they we'll talk to the manager. This is some of the rudest staff I have ever dealt with.

No judgement zone is a true statement. Love this gym. I never feel out of place and everyone I bring always says they don’t feel out of place, even though they’ve never been to a gym before.

I have a complaint. I have already contacted the gym manager- was lied too and treated very rudely- I was directed to the customer service page on the web site- it never opens. I cant seem to find contact information for the owner, and when i call the number, they are only open Mon thru Thursday during the hours I have to work. they make it so hard to contact them with a legitimate complaint- makes a person wonder why?

This center has greatly improved in the last severally months….they had a problem with their hot water for many months, but the current manager got this remedied. Their cleanliness has also improved. The manager also patiently got my billing straightened out after I changed my membership.
