It has now been four months that I have been away from Independence Village. This was my work home for almost three years. Some of the best years of my life. When I returned this past week to visit staff and residents, I was blown away. There was not one resident that I spoke to that wasn’t pleased with living there and they were RAVING about the activities and environment. Community living can bring a lot of challenges, both for staffing and occupancy. During my visit, it was encouraging to see that the community was fully staffed with caregivers and management. When I visited the memory care community, I was entering just as lunch was finishing up. The staff members working had created an amazing environment. All while cleaning the tables and finishing up lunch, they had Christmas music playing and there were residents dancing and singing along! Josie, a caregiver at IV, had created such a fun environment for the folks living there. They got the maracas out and were dancing and singing along to multiple Christmas tunes. It doesn’t surprise me that this is what I experienced during my visit to Independence Village but it’s always refreshing to see how lively an environment can be with the right people leading. Independence Village is always a community that I will recommend to individuals and family members of loved ones who are looking for a caring and fun community.

Transitions are difficult, but my husband's move to Independence Village was made easier by the caring, compassionate staff. My husband's understanding of the move is that we now have a second home that provides for our needs in retirement. It is a second home for both of us, since I am made to feel part of the community rather than a visitor. Though in the memory care area, my husband hasn't experienced a loss of independence: he truly lives there. I'm thankful for the help we found there to maintain quality of life for our whole family.

Independence Village in Ames has been a blessing to our family. Our mom is doing so well now that she is being engaged everyday by such wonderful caring staff. The wide variety of activities and individualized integrated assistance gives our family piece of mind knowing that our mom is living the best life possible each and every day.

Upon the couple of times that I have visited Independence Village, I have been blown away with the fun environment and incredibly engaged staff. I've watched some of the activities with IV residents and it feels like there is never a dull moment. I loved seeing all of the smiles and hearing all of the laughs! As soon as you walk into the community, you are greeted by many staff members and there is always great music playing or a pianist playing on the piano in the main lobby. I would recommend this community to my family!

My daughter has worked at Independence Village Ames for over 2 years now and she has loved every second of it! The opportunities for her to grow and learn has been amazing. She always comes home with something new that she learned. I’ve toured this community a couple of times and it’s definitely a community I’d consider for my own parents. The front lobby was always filled with extremely nice staff members and the residents always looked like they were having a blast.

Just an outstanding experience at Independence Village, in looking at options for my mother. I would especially mention the outstanding personalized consideration to Mom's interests and needs in the tour that was provided, the time spent getting to know Mom and all the information provided to us before our tour, at the tour and in follow-up. Such impressive attention to detail and professionalism. Offers great comfort in considering options for a loved one.

My Mom moved in towards the end of May. My father unexpectedly passed away in February and she fell down the stairs March 15. She was still quite ill so was in and out of the hospital and rehab. Amber, Logan and Rhondy were all very good about checking up on her and so helpful. We got her room changed to one closer to the dining room and on the first floor. She now has the items from home that she wants in her room to make it feel homey. Eden, the activity director is great about having lots of activities that Mom is involved in. She’s made some close friends and is so happy there. The meals are delicious. I don’t know what we would have done without everyone’s help during a very stressful time. She wants to stay for good which I’m thankful for. We know she is well taken care of and I don’t spend my days worrying about her. I’m grateful that we have a wonderful place for her to live at this point in her life.

Waterford at Ames is the vest assisted living in the Ames area. The care there is amazing and Logan and Amber make sure everything is great. Don’t hesitate to move there today. You’ll never regret it.

The Wateford has a great atmosphere and team. They truly work in the best interest of their residents, no matter the need. I've experienced first hand how they go above and beyond for those in their care.

Amazed at the care that is given to each resident and their families. The staff makes sure that you and your loved one is well taken care of and provides you with all the knowledge you may need when placing a loved one in a assisted care facility.

Fantastic people to work with. If you're looking for top notch care for a loved one, this is the right place. Have never seen a more caring staff in this type of setting. Just amazing all the way around.

Treats employees horribly and only has the residents money in mind- FYI 90% of the reviews are from family of the management not people that have had actual experiences with this assisted living. Will do anything yo bring in revenue including endangering people by keeping individuals they are unable to care for properly.
