It's a fine Hy Vee. The Wine and Spirits clerks are particularly fun employees to chop it up with. Any time I need help, the folks there are always on the ball. One time some random asshole college student came up to me and tried to recruit me to join his Amway team, but that's mostly just a funny anecdote and has nothing to do with the store. I hope his pyramid scheme fails and he gets punched at an Insane Clown Posse concert.

Leave it to Hyvees pharmacists to discriminate.Called Tuesday June 20th to check my prescription cost and to confirm the medication. I called yesterday, June 22nd and spoke to Heather again, she stated that my prescription was canceled due to not being able to pay for it.I never stated that I couldn't pay for my medication, but they assumed since I had no insurance.Heather garenteed my medication for TODAY, Friday June 25th in the morning.... here we are 5 days later.... no medication and now I'm being told it will not be ready til 4PM.This is the absolute worst pharmacy ever, please fo not count on them for your prescription

Here we go again , the run around trying to get my prescriptions filled on time. I got the run around yesterday and today. Between hy vee pharmacy and my doctor's office. I still have to wait until tomorrow. I had surgery the 21st and they think I am going to make several trips over to Hy vee for more run around.I fired my doctor this afternoon , Since she doesn't have time for her patients . Her nurse tried to say the prescription was turned in early . It was dueyesterday. .Hy-Vee pharmacy needs to get their act together.

For the most part, I've always had a good experience with the pharmacy. Phone refill system is easy, and when I've had to talk to someone for a refill, that was also smoothly handled. If I go to the doctor and they call in a prescription, there is generally a wait, but that is to be expected. Pharmacist has always been helpful and friendly when I had a question.

West Ames HyVee is playing mind games AGAIN. Their constant rearranging products causing customers to spend endless hours of wasted effort such that even their employees cannot seem to find products....good job at mismanagement.

It was really good. The people are friendly and usually don't have to wait long at all.

Been going here a while. Usually they’ll give me an estimate of 20-30 minutes. And then I usually wait till the end of the day to give them extra time. No joke 90% of the time when I arrive they say the order was not put in the system and to give them another 20 minutes. Half the time even then it still hasn’t been put in or filled. I’d understand this happening a few times. But this has become a repetitive habit from this place. One time I literally had to come back four times because they hadn’t put my order in the system yet. Also had multiple times they filled an old prescription I no longer take. They kept saying they’d remove it but it took 3 months.

They ALWAYS mess up my wife's prescriptions and "accidentally" charge us for refills then refuse to refund. After the intense disrespect from management and lack of attention to covid precautions from this store we're finally going to find a new pharmacy. Hy-Vee makes more off of the pharmacy than they do from anything else. They won't care if I leave and probably won't see or acknowledge this but I implore the community to look for a business that actually cares about you as a person and not as a number

Did the Covid antibody test here. The report came back and had conflicting results with the Covid diagnostic test I had just the day before. I called the staff for some clarification and they had no idea how to read the antibody report. Told me to come back for a retest that I'd have to pay for again. Why run the test if you can't read the results?

My wife and I have been shopping here for more than 40 years, so I thought it was high time to review this store, especially since their reaction to the pandemic has been so exceptional. I was always a big fan of the store before but now I really would not consider shopping anywhere else. Since the pandemic (and possibly before; I never thought to inquire before) HyVee has been offering free pickup of groceries ordered online. You order and pay for them on aislesonline, a shopper does your shopping for you, and then you drive up and they put the groceries in your trunk. Let me repeat that there is NO CHARGE for this service, provided your order exceeds 30 dollars. I was a little reluctant to do this at first because I actually like wandering the aisles, making sure I get the item of my choice, the best date, etc., but when Covid cases began spiking here in Iowa we started using this service for safety reasons and now I am completely sold on it. There have been almost no glitches or mistakes in months of ordering, and on those very rare occasions that there has been, they have been promptly and courteously corrected. On one occasion, when an item I ordered didn't make it into the bag, they delivered it to my home. Their computer system allows you to select an alternate item from a fairly extensive list of choices in case they are sold out of something, and they even follow a policy of not charging you more for the alternate than the original item cost. Just today, for example, they were out of the small banana bread that I ordered, and gave us the large size that I had selected as a substitute for the same price, which I think goes above and beyond the call of duty. Back when my parents were still alive, they came to visit me from New York and I still remember my father's astonished reaction to this store-- the wide, well-lit aisles, the employees who smiled at us when we passed them (and frequently greeted me by name), etc. He kept saying that there was nothing like in this in New York City, and of course he was right. The staff here is about as friendly and accommodating as you can possibly ask for. When I have had purchase requests I have always gotten a quick reply-- sometimes they can't order the item I requested, but they always let you know why. Bottom line: if you don't already shop here, you should definitely consider doing so. This is one of my favorite stores in Ames.

Friendly employees, good selection of fresh food. Has less of a selection that you would see at most gas stations.

I sat in my car for about 15 before entering hyvee, debating whether to buy some groceries or have enough for rent. I was nervous to go in 1. Because of the virus and 2. Because of the dirty side eyes I have been noticing from random people. On the verge of a complete mental breakdown (contemplating whether just to abandon the groceries bc they were expensive) at the self check out a worker approached me each with those roses. For a second I just forgot about everything. THANK YOU HYVEE. thank you to the worker for her kindness. Times are scary right now and this small act of kindness meant the world.
