I had to have a thermostat replaced on my wife's 2015 Tahoe. The job required less than an hour for an untrained mechanic. There was no disassembly to access the thermostat. This Dealer uses a pre planed software program that set their labor hours to do a job. They bill owners based on the horrible (overpriced charges) software. Their software said that to replace the thermostat on the Tahoe would take 4 hours and they charged 4 hours. Total repair was just under 1000.00$ when it should have cost under 250.00$.The Service Manager would not bend based on actual repair time, and even admitted that the labor charge was excess. The owner/ General Manager refused to return my messages. Word of advice, stay away from rip off dealers like this one. Check repair times before having work done, get a written estimate and don not allow extra charges without them getting your approval. This dealer did repairs without giving me a price or I would have refused. How many people are getting ripped off.There is no State Law Regulating such behavior, no Consumer Protection.

I recently had a transmission output shaft seal failure while travelling in the Ames area. I was stuck with no vehicle and no choice but to have a repair done. I had the van towed to George White and although they were clearly booked full for several days out, they worked me in and had the complete repair done in a day. The cost of the repair was very fair, less than I expected.They really bailed me out of my difficulty. The prompt attention eliminated the need to have Ms T drive form St Louis to pick me up or shuttle to DSM to fly home. I know it is fun to bash automotive service facilities when things don't go well, but this experience could not have been better!

I keep this short without as much detail. My first and hopefully only review. The only reason I'm writing this review is to warm people. I took my truck in for an ac part. They gave a quote and the part which costed 130.00$ by itself. The quote was 950.00$ for them to put in the part. They said they'd have to take apart the dashboard to put in the part ,which is a lie. They were about to charge me 800$ extra for something they wouldn't have had to do. They also charged me extra for the part. It's a stealership at it's best. If you do end up here, do what I did and get a second opinion.

I wanted to take a moment to share a few words about the amazing experience I had with the GW Chevrolet service department. As an owner of a foreign vehicle, I have always taken my car to the dealership for any work I have needed because I thought no one else could work on my car and know what to do. Being that there is not dealership in Ames for my make, it is often a drive for my service or work. This week I had an inch of water on my passenger side floor and a schedule with VERY limited availability. By a referral from another satisfied customer of GW Chevy, I reached out and they immediately got me in to fix my issue. I cannot tell you how great they were to deal with. Technicians even took my carpet out of my car and made sure it was dry for me when I picked it up. And not only can they work on ANY car, they do it for much less cost of taking it anywhere else. THANK YOU GEORGE WHITE CHEVROLET!

Being a parent several hundred miles away from your inexperienced college kid with car troubles, the call "the car broke down" isn't good. Had it towed to Geo White and Randy in the shop was responsive and patient in explaining the upcoming procedures. Of course we aren't happy with a bill, but it is what it is and we will continue to trust the repair shop.

Awesome place to purchase a new or used car. Friendly staff they work hard for you to get you in the right vehicle and what your looking for. Fast response from them when you call or email them from there web page. I will always be a lifetime customer of there's.

Car dealerships should be a good experience. If you're buying a new or used vehicle, purchasing parts or getting repair/warranty work done, it should be a good experience. After my last visit to the dealership for repairs I won't go back. I have an older vehicle ('04 Impala) and being 15 years old, it needs repair work done semi-frequently. I recently brought it in so they could replace the blower motor. They did their normal work as usual, charged me the amount they told me they'd charge me and I left satisfied. One day later the blower stopped working again. I took it back in to have them look at it and they told me they'd only do it if I paid their insane "diagnostic" fee. I didn't need anything diagnosed. I knew what was wrong and so did they, yet they wanted to charge me another cost on top of it. Unhappy with the service I spoke with the department manager and they agreed to look at it no charge since they messed it up. It turns out the tech installed it wrong. I told them I wasn't happy with their service and they didn't seem to care too much. I was still treated as if I did something wrong when they messed up. If I ever need another repair or warranty work done I'm driving to Boone and letting Pat Clemons do the work. I'm guessing they at least respect their customers. No more George White for me.

RUDE, worst car experience. I'll never think of shopping here again. They provided false info about the car I was interested in. Don't waste your time. Do not go to Lars!

Great service, worked quick. I had issues on the interstate 3.5 hours into a 7 hr drive, the day after Christmas, and every dealership I called was booked for days and unwilling to fit me in. George White was very busy but able to fit me in and analyze the problem and get it fixed in a hurry. Very pleasant to work with, very professional. I am so thankful.
