The on-site team was nice. It was a difficult day because the computer crashed. I really wish they would bring back on-site parking

Nobody is better in the car rental industry than enterprise.

Ridiculously overpriced - I was quoted $65 to rent an economy car for seven hours (10 am to 5 pm) while my car was at an auto repair shop. When I told the fast-talking phone CSR (aka sales rep) I wasn't interested in renting a car at that rate, he did not want to take no for an answer. I ended the call and ordered a Lyft.

5/5 for the car, and the service when I picked up the car.0/5 for how the branch manager (Chase Magers) treated me after I returned the car.Usually, Enterprise would drop me off to my place but on that day there was nobody from Enterprise who could drop me off. That's okay; I just called an Uber. While waiting for the ride, I asked him if I could sit inside the office for a bit because it was cold outside.Eventually, there were three staff walking in and out of that office... He said, " NO it is closed. You can stay inside the car if you want." But the car is locked, and he took the key and was already busy doing something else. I decided to sit in the car next to the one I just returned because it was unlocked. When my Uber arrived, I got out of the car and he said to me, "You can't stay in that car; you should stay in the car that you just returned!" I was like:Bro, you locked the car and had me stay in the car to stay warm while I didn't have the key for the car?The Enterprise has always been perfect for the service. But for the first time I am pissed with how Chase Magers (branch manager) treated me after returning the car.

Lane was great to work with! I had to change my pick up time and he was super patient with me. When I dropped the car back off, he took me over to Schaffers to get my truck. Very friendly and easy to work with. I will definitely use them again.

NEVER AGAIN!My partner Darrell has partial disability due to 3 surgeries on his lower back. For long trips, needs a luxury car seat. He found a couple of choices on Travelocity and wanted to confirm he could get one. Several weeks before trip, called Enterprise. The woman he talked to said that Ames would not have anything in the luxury category, but she could get one sent there. He booked it.He had two doctor appointments in Iowa City starting 1:00 pm, several hours from us, and then heading to Chicago. He had a 10:00 pm pick-up time; I took him at 9:00. The manager on duty said they had no luxury vehicles; Darrell told him what he had been told. The manager insisted that he couldn’t help because no one had passed that information on to him. He had Darrell’s reservation in hand AND EVEN THAT INDICATED LUXURY. There were very few cars available; he offered a Mustang. Not something with limited mobility could use. He did make an attempt to call Ankeny to get one from there; they did not have any.We were pretty desperate, he had two doctor appointments he was going to miss plus booked hotel rooms in Indiana. The manager offered a massive GMC truck. This cumbersome beast would be nearly impossible to park in Chicago. He assured us that he would call ahead to the Iowa City Enterprise and have them exchange to a better vehicle. Darrell left the Ames Enterprise at 10:00 am.This vehicle was going to consume considerably more fuel and was highly inconvenient to drive so we asked the manager how he was going to compensate a vehicle nowhere near what he had reserved and with significant economical issues. He told Darrell he could return it with an empty gas tank! Poor customer service to make up for such a ridiculous SNAFU.He finished two doctor appointments at 4:00. No one had called him. He tried calling the manager several times. He finally got the manager who told him he had no luck calling Iowa City; information he failed to convey after all day. Darrell called Iowa City Enterprise; they had not heard from anyone in Ames. He arrived several minutes after closing but they still helped him get into a much more desirable Alantra. Kudos and high marks for the Iowa City Enterprise for going above and beyond. There were critical issues here. Two very important doctor appointments. The ability to navigate and park in Chicago. Needing to avoid further back stress and injury. Had he not taken the truck, he would have missed his appointments, have to pay for prep-paid hotel room for a week and missed the family event he was headed there for. I travel a lot and use rental cars all of the time. Any time that these companies did not have what I reserved, they put me in something else, likely an upgrade. There would be no situation where the inventory was so bad that there would be no comparable car.The fact that the Iowa City Enterprise did go out of their way to help him is why giving even one star. But we will never use the Ames location for rentals ever again and will likely avoid Enterprise as our first choice.

NEVER AGAIN! My partner has partial disability due to 3 surgeries on his lower back. He is mobile but, for long trips, he needs a luxury car seat. Several weeks before a trip between Ames and Chicago/Northwest Indiana, he called Enterprise to see what they could do. He found a couple of choices on Travelocity and wanted to confirm he could get one. The woman he talked to said that Ames would not have anything in the luxury category but she could get one sent there. He went ahead and booked it. The day he was to leave he had two doctor appointments in Iowa City, several hours from us, and then he was heading to Northwest Iowa. He had a 10:00 pm pick-up time but was anxious so I took him at 9:00. The manager on duty said they had no luxury vehicles; Darrell told him what he had been told. The manager kept insisting that he couldn't help because no one had passed that information on to him. At the same time, he had Darrell's reservation in hand AND EVEN THAT INDICATED LUXURY. There were very few cars available; he offered a Mustang. Not something with limited mobility could use. He did make an attempt to call Ankeny to get one from there; they did not have any. By this time we were pretty desperate, he had two doctor appointments he was going to miss plus booked hotel rooms. The manager then offered a massive (height, length and width) GMC truck. Darrell was going to be spending time in Chicago; this cumbersome beast would be nearly impossible to park there. He assured us that he would call ahead to the Iowa City Enterprise and have them help exchange to a better vehicle. Darrell left the Ames Enterprise at 10:00 am. This vehicle was going to consume considerably more fuel and was highly inconvenient to drive so we asked the manager what he was going to do about putting him in a vehicle nowhere near what he had reserved and with significant economical issues. He told him he could return it with an empty gas tank! Good customer service says do something significant to make up for such a ridiculous SNAFU; this hardly qualifies. He got through his two doctor appointments around 4:00. No one had called him. He tried calling the manager; something we had already learned was difficult to accomplish. He finally got ahold of the manager who told him he had no luck calling Iowa City. This information he failed to convey after telling Darrell he would do this. Darrell took it upon himself to call Iowa City Enterprise; they had not heard from anyone in Ames as far as they knew and said they could help him. He arrived several minutes after closing but they still helped him get into a much more desirable Allantra. Kudos and high marks for the Iowa City Enterprise for going above and beyond. They also told him most Enterprises never have luxury vehicles. So, this begs the question, why are they a choice on their site with no warning that it won't be available if you book it? Why does it allow a reservation go through when the pick up site never has such vehicles. Why did the customer service rep tell him she could have one there for him? There were real issues here. Two very important doctor appointments. The ability to navigate and park in Chicago. Making sure you honor a request that would help him avoid further back stress and injury. Had he not taken the truck, he would have missed his appointments, have to pay for prep-paid hotel room for a week and missed the family event he was headed there for. I travel a lot and use rental cars all of the time. Any time that these companies did not have what I reserved, they would put me in something else, likely an upgrade. There would be no situation where the inventory was so bad that there would be no comparable car to put me into. The fact that the Iowa City Enterprise did go out of their way to help him means we aren't going to put this all on Enterprise although they also should not show and book reservations for cars they know will never be at that site. But you can be sure we will never use the Ames location for rentals ever again and will likely avoid Enterprise as

Prior to thanksgiving booked a SUV Rental for a week. Tech -No run down on specs ex : how to shut off auto stop-starter Known issues complaints from prior drivers CarPlay gps froze and would not connect or show any response800 miles into trip transmission was shifting hard. Shift prior to this was at 2000rms but this instant it was shifting hard a 5000. Creating the transmission to jolt forward violently without my foot bing on the brake or gas. Just would take off like it was shifting without any pressure on either pedals. Called my location I got the car from they got me set up with roadside assistance for a swap. After they confirmed they had a car available and similar to the 2022 jeep compass they had me in to start with. That being said Went to 3 different locations 2 of them wanted to put my family of 4 in Nissan frontier with our luggage in the trunk out in the bed of the truck with the outdoor elements(freezing rain/snowstorm) i declined . Prior to this our luggage was in the back of the jeep protected. 3rd location at the airport didn’t have a rental available wanted me to stick around and 3-4 hrs Mind you this was Friday of 2023 blackfriday . In Texas needing to get back to Iowa return date was Saturday 9am. Trip is 15 hrs. The longer I’m delayed the longer the trip. Costing me to be late. I got tired of getting told to go here and there to get a replacement rental swapped. Just to waste my time and gas in the car. Finally got home problems continued. Wanted to speak with a manager chase in Ames Iowa. Told him the issue and how it wasn’t a worry free/ handsfree (gps) trip. Asked me what I thought was fair. I wanted prorated for the week of the rental and the late day takin care of. Since I had to do a lot of back and forth to locations with no progress. He said he couldn’t do both. And decided to give me the late day back and somehow only received partial of my down deposit. I had No damages and gas was at agreed upon level. But he did tell me he is putting that car in the shop. Since it’s had prior issues as well. I don’t feel like as a customer/agreement that I was respected nor was there truly any effort to assist with issues from purchased with a enterprise rental. that was a new vehicle with mechanical issues with no due diligence to make it right on to me who. On the phone admitted that they don’t test drive the vehicle or do proper maintenance inspections. Not happy with how they handled it and how they chose to make it right. I still had a very unpleasant trip due to the vehicle not getting me there safely worry free. Oils change light came on 1000 miles in the trip. Not satisfied with Ames Iowa enterprise location. Just not seeing how they made it right?
