Called the guys for a tow to the shop. My coil spring had broken and ruined my tire. They quoted me a price of $108 for the tow. I told Lisa the woman I talked to that the left front tire was off and asked if I should put on the donut. She said "No don't put the donut on. They will figure it out". The guy shows up and puts the donut on. Then they proceeded to charge me an additional $36 plus tax for using their equipment to put the donut on. The guy didn't bring a jack so he used mine. I called to complain and Lisa says " They used special equipment " and I said they used my equipment. Then she said "well it took longer than expected so we are charging you for the extra time". I said he put the donut on that you told me to not to put on. She said "We aren't going to take the charge off". Won't ever use these guys again. Totally deceitful and unethical billing. Don't use these guys unless you want to get gouged.

Our camper broke down in Ames Iowa. The Elmquist tow truck run by Chris came right away. After trying many repair places with no luck, Chris took us to get a rental car. Scott, the mechanic at Elmquist, repaired our camper, so we were able to continue our trip while he replaced the fuel pump. All the staff at Elmquist were professional and friendly, and went out of their way to help us.

I have a 42' motor home that wouldn't start. Ethan, one of their operators came to me and scanned my codes, DEF issue, dealer issue. He got his big wrecker and towed me from Slater to Clear Lake. Very knowledgeable and careful. I would recommend them for any towing needs.

It is clear the only priority this towing group; has is their desire to gouge customers for petty $. Whatever. I certainly will not be trusting my vehicle to this unfortunate excuse for a small business.

This towing company is most likely onw of the worst choices in ames. Their prices for picking up cars and getting cars back are absurd. They also claim to be 24 hours but they are in fact not. Answering their phones is not an activity they seem to enjoy. I would strongly suggest using any other service or maybe even pushing your car because using them will most certainly wnd in dissappointment.

Parked in parking garage behind my building for a night after getting in late while it was ~15° minus wind chill. The usual place my car is at is a 35 min walk which wouldn't have been safe or smart at the time. The next morning, I go to class and my car is taken with no warning (through a student housing company) and charged $289 for just that morning. Outrageous pricing for an honest mistake. They are taking advantage of already struggling college students. Not a good company to deal with.

Extremely overpriced. They tow over break when there's spots everywhere and people are visiting. My neighbor's boyfriend was being towed and he came out as they were back up to him and they refused to cut him a deal. Overall poor experiences with this company.

Predatory towing from empty kmart parking lot with limited no parking signage. If you dont want people to park there, signs need to be everywhere. Three people drove in and no one saw the small no parking sign. Came back from game with cars towed. $250 to retrieve my vehicle from this shady business.

This company knowingly engages in predatory towing. I went to the store to discuss what had happened to me. I was maybe 10 feet away from my car parked in a private lot (that stated no gameday parking or no tailgating). This was a Friday in April. I stopped the driver who claimed to have put on go-jacks (which he didn't) and he demanded 200 dollars in cash. I paid it and then went to their service location only to have someone from the company blatantly explain to me that they engage in predatory towing which is a highly unethical practice that is deemed illegal in many states (but not Iowa). They were within their right to issue me a fine, but ask yourself if you want to do business with a company that knowingly engages in unethical behaviors. Choose another company if at all possible. This company is scum.

Our car was towed from an accident scene. Elm quiet D was called by the police despite the fact that my son insisted that a tow company Approved by Our insurance be used. Once in their yard, Elquist D held the car over the weekend against our wishes stating that they couldn't release it until the ins co came to inspect the vehicle. We drove there anyway on sat, knowing that there would be storage fees. Again, the young lady refused to release it......and in fact, told us we couldn't remove anything from the vehicle........so the storage fees accumulated ($35 per day) When we finally got in touch with the ins Co on Monday, they stated the tow company should not have kept the car, and that they (the ins co) has nothing to do with it since the car isn't covered for collision which is what we had been telling the tow co all along. At any rate, they charged $475 on a lien to finally release the vehicle on Monday. There were all sorts of nickle & dime charges for an $85 tow. "Road clean up fee," "vehicle view fee" "hook up" "storage" etc. I called to complain about the fact that they held the car against my wishes & the young lady said she told us we had to pay the bill to have it released - which is not the truth. They agreed to remove the extra 2 days storage, but when my son picked up the car, that was not done. All around, a very UNPLEASANT & EXPENSIVE DEAL, which was out of our control. And I really question the police for calling in this shady operator. Hope this review helps at least one other person avoid this most unpleasant experience!

This business charges $165 to retrieve your car, incredibly overpriced. Furthermore, we were supposed to follow someone to the impound lot and the person drove off too quickly for us to follow. We were stuck trying to get out of their extremely tight, insufficient parking. I figure, they make enough money stealing people's cars and selling them back that you should probably take your automotive/gas business elsewhere.
