Says they are open everyday at 8am but the doors are locked, and no one there, and no sign posted on the door. Since small town now I have drive out of my way!

The dollar general in ames iowa is the nastiest store. The employees don't take time to wipe down anything. I went into dollar general in ames iowa to get soda and everyone of there 6 pack bottles were disgusting and sticky. They had stuff all over and customers couldn't even get down the aisles. But it's funny how the employees/managers have time to stand around and talk when they should be cleaning there store and cleaning there sticky soda bottles and shelves. I will never shop at dollar general in ames iowa ever again.

Someone from upper management desperately needs to show some serious attention to this store. It appears to be a fairly newer store, but it is filthy, there is always shipment on U Boats on the floor somewhere in front of products for days, the shelves are nearly empty, things aren't in the correct places. It's a disaster. I shop here just like everyone else in Ames to save a few dollars here or there and over the years, they have some products I buy that only they carry. I have been shopping at Dollar General for years and since moving to Ames in January 2023, watched this location very rapidly decline.

Dollar General needs to put more of an effort into this particular location. Being the only location in town, (which is odd) it is very cramped.There are not a lot of options for home furnishings or seasonal decorations like most newer stores. It’s wild that they didn’t even have throw blankets in a state that gets super cold. No fresh fruit section, either.The staff is generally pretty cool, and patient. One lady was giving a guy a hard time the other day, and he was very reserved.The store is well stocked with what it does carry, but once again, cramped. The aisles are very close together, and there are ALWAYS stock carts on the floor. I got cut while walking to the register from a garden stake hanging out of a stock basket that I couldn’t see.I only rate it lower so that hopefully DG will get you guys a new store soon after seeing that you clearly need more room, and more choices for the only location in Ames.

I love coming to this location, it's convenient on my way to work and great for my seasonal decor shopping. Manager? Rod is the best. He is always happy and helpful. I come here because I know I will always have a good interaction.

I absolutely love this dollar general. The people that work here they are very nice people and very welcoming. The store is always clean and stocked up. I love coming here.
