Rampant spiritual abuse, manipulation, and silencing of differing views. No accountability in leadership as it’s strongly characterized by in-group bias. Very cultish. Obsessed with roles, authority, unity, and leaders. Often talking about leaders and rarely about Christ. If they mention Christ, it’s most likely to parrot the phrase “the way of Christ and his apostles” which is their billboard statement that they slap on all of their teachings. It makes what they’re saying sound impactful and cutting-edge when it’s really quite repetitive and lacking. They do the same studies over and over again and mainly stay within the Pauline letters, focusing their teachings on quite a narrow selection of the Bible. They repeatedly visit the same passages used to support their interpretation and avoiding anything that may refute their interpretation; all the while claiming how the Bible is “so very clear” on what they’re teaching. Hackles raise if teachings are questioned. To be clear, they love discussion and discussion questions, but ONLY of the approved study material. Discussions quickly lose their authenticity. There are “correct questions” and “correct answers” and anything else is division and disunity and will promptly earn you a meeting with leadership. If you do end up visiting this church, they will welcome you in with open arms and it will feel great (for a while) but be careful because once you’ve been there a number of years and haven’t conformed to their level of perfection, they’re going to be hot on your tail to align you to their “principles”.Lastly, they are often asking for large amounts of money with little transparency around what it’s actually being used for. Maybe they talk about budget details further up in leadership but I never heard a budget breakdown in the 10 years I was there which seems suspicious.Proceed with much caution if you are considering the CityChurch of Ames/Des Moines or BILD.

We went to their building for Public Nurses to give foot services for older folks. The facility is nice, well maintained, and offers services for manyorganizations. Have never attended church services there, but they certainly understand the concept of loving others.

Modern and well designed multipurpose style building. Great for group gatherings such as weddings, receptions, reunions and church activities. There is a kitchen to help prepare any meals or snacks and large outdoor grass area.
