Car X in Ames is the best car shop I’ve been to. Any problems & they got it. The manager Danny is a down to earth really good person & all the staff are nice people too.
This weekend my car randomly started shaking while accelerating & I brought it in first thing Monday. They were super busy, all bays full getting work done & Danny & a crew member stopped what they were doing to diagnose the problem, which was just a bad wire. They fixed the wire for free since it was a small issue but it really meant a lot they’d stop what they’re doing to help me. Plus, the wire they replaced actually turned off a few other lights of mine that have been bugging me but I wasn’t sure how to turn them off.
Great shop, great people. Car X has my business and I encourage everyone else to take their car maintenance needs there as well ??

My bf needed a quick fix on his tire. Always had amazing service here with Danny. He repaired and patched it up in 15 minutes. CarX is the best place to go!

Customer service is horrible. They're always grumpy. They refuse to make an appointment and say I have to drop off my car for the day. They also screwed up a simple wheel balance on my car (which they wouldn't admit to at first). So many other better shops in Ames to go to. Avoid this one!!!

The guys who love old fords took good care of me after a rough day of needing my precious ‘97 F250 to be towed. They were quick and respectful. While I hope not to be a regular, they have my loyalty.

Don't try to use the online option to request an appointment! I made an online reservation request and got a confirmation email and everything. Never got contacted to confirm or cancel the appointment. Went in at the reservation time and they somehow had no record of my reservation request.

Incredible service. Dave communicated clearly, went out of his way to solve my problem as timely as possible, and explained the underlying problem and how he fixed it. My car broke down while driving from MN to NE and this was a lifesaver!

Absolutely amazing people. Changed my tires for me when I was in an extreme bind the day I left for a job in Texas.
10/10 would recommend them to everyone and be coming back myself.

My son and his girlfriend had their first ever vehicle breakdown ,2008 Chevy Impala, I have to say as a parent dealing with this issue all the way from GA I am extremely impressed by the both the service and professionalism shown by everyone at CARX. They had the vehicle up and running next morning after a 5:00pm tow in and their estimate for the work came in under. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Everyone that works here is great, and the staff are fast and concise. But as a company, you guys charge way too much. I might still do oil changes, but anything major I will always go somewhere else

A great big shout out to Car X of Ames Iowa.
Shopping around the city of Ames, from Boone, and realized I had a flat tire. Gimped into Car X at 11:30am and asked if i could get my pickup tire repaired and back on my way by 12:15.
As I had a Dr. Appointment at 12:30pm @ Mc Farland Clinic.
He told me he would put me next.
Just b4 12 noon the technician pulled my pickup in the shop.
At 12:10. They came to the waiting room and said I was ready to roll!
He chuckled, because he didn't realize that my large blonde poodle was even in the back sat!
I guess he wanted his first ride up on a lift, so Pierre kept still!! ?
Then when i went to pay.... NO CHARGE!!! What????
That never happens!!
So very nice there are still kind and ? caring persons still around!!
Car X just gained another happy customer!! ❤️

Went to Freedom Tire first. They wanted $1300 for an alternator in my Jeep Patriot. Car-X was only $570. Friendly service also. This is the place in Ames to get your work done.Sofa chairs are also so comfortable to wait in and plenty of restaurants next door to eat at while waiting.

Easily the best and most reliable place I've ever gone to when I have problems with my car. Every time I've gone, the staff are always friendly and they have prices and deals you can't beat anywhere else. Highly Recommend!
