I can’t say enough about Dr. Brandon Weyhing. He diagnosed our beloved kitty with a terminal condition and was so patient, kind and compassionate through the process of helping her cross the rainbow bridge. He explained everything so we would know what to expect, as this was the first time our family had gone through this. He is patient and gentle and it is obvious how much he truly cares about his patients and their families.

The best of the best! We have brought our dog Banks here since he was a puppy. The staff has been SO amazing. He had surgery and they explained and communicated everything very well. Dr. Weyhing is awesome. We moved and one of the hardest things has been finding a vet clinic that is as great as Ames pet hospital!

I have brought my (almost) 8 year old dog here since I adopted her at around 4 months old. She was diagnosed with cancer recently and had surgery to remove the tumors. The staff was honest and transparent about pricing estimates and made sure I was aware of what my options were. They were compassionate and kind throughout the entire process. The surgery was successful and they were able to remove all of the cancer and my dog is back to her normal self. I can not thank the staff enough for all they’ve done for us throughout the years.

I have taken my pets here for years. Though my cats will never love going to the vet the staff do their best to ensure that they are comfortable during their visit. My dog loves the staff there and is always happy to go in for her check ups.

I've been bringing my pups here for a couple of years. We recently had to put one down, and they were very comforting and explained the whole process very well.

Our dog is very shy and jumpy. The vet saw this and got eye to eye with her, and talked to her till she calmed down. Will recommend them to friends!

I was calling for a friend. This is a GREAT! My newborn dog was hit by a car and broke his leg in 4 places. They did the surgery and he's like a new puppy. Thank you for SAVING Rosco!!

I said over and over again something was wrong with my lab. They disagreed, I finally went to ISU and she had a 40% heart failure. She needed immediate surgery at a 40% heart rate. She received a pacemaker bc I could afford it. My opinion, over worked (not their fault), easily dismissed (liable). I am sorry we don’t have enough resources but bad advice kills my family member. No thank you. FYI she lived almost 3 more years!!!

Love the vet here, but the receptionist, Jackie is very unprofessional. She uses scare tactics and shaming to try to get you to pay for extra tests, and literally told me my cat will probably die if i don't bring him in today. Very rude and unprofessional to berate your customers who are clearly worried about their sick pet, who has had this issue before.

I'm so grateful to everyone at Ames Pet Hospital. They took us on as new patients recently and have treated us like we've been with them for years! Unfortunately, one of the first things we had to do with them was to end the suffering of our older dog. They were so compassionate and kind. They didn't know him or us but they were amazing! I would highly recommend them.

Brought our newly adopted adult cat here for a checkup, and was very pleased with the service we received. The staff answered our questions and explained the rationale behind their recommendations, all while being very compassionate to our cat. We'll come here in the future for sure!

I would recommend APH to others! I started taking my rescue pup there once she arrived here in IA from TX, in May of 2020. I get all of her vaccinations, wellness checkups, parasite screens, and any other concerns that come up randomly (hot spot, allergies, respiratory issue, etc.) taken care of here. I recommend that everyone get the 3-yr distemper vax since it saves time and money - you just need to specifically ask for it. My girl has been seen by Dr. Moeller, Dr. Haban, and Dr. Bemis, and we've had different assistants across our visits, all who have been wonderful. My pup's anxiety can sometimes get severe, so vet visits can be tough for us. But each time, they are patient, read her cues very well, and work with us to make the visits as painless as possible for what they need to do. They communicate both the conditions and the options very well, as I have never felt in the dark (though, I am a bit of a question-asker). The only complaint I have is that I've noticed a small increase in price each year for the same services. But for context, I am a graduate student on a budget, so it just hurts a little more than it might for other people!ALSO - I have Nationwide pet insurance (Major medical plan and vpi pet wellness rider-plus plan) and I have never had an issue with claims after my visits here! One time, they even helped me submit my claim after a wellness visit when I had just started on this insurance plan and didn't know what to do.Thank you APH for always taking great care of us!
