“Had an issue yesterday with truck not starting and knew it was a fuel issue. Chad came and instead of just getting me primed and started and sending me on my way, he took the time to look over things and saw that they had put on an after market fuel filter and suggested changing that out or i would have the same issue again today. Even gave a few tips on how to avoid this situation again. Truck started righted up this morning with zero issues and thankfully that seemed to be the main source of the issue and not something else. Thanks for taking the time to do the road call on Sunday. I greatly appreciate it!”

Car was diagnosed, Was decided car needed new engine. Pam sent me updated progress notes and advised what was being done. Went to pick up the car, Pam advised us on some future work that should be done and released the car. Car drives 100% better than it did when we purchased it. Very happy and extremely satisfied. “Miguel and his son Mikey are the most honest mechanics I have ever come across. I moved to Des Moines and had car issues a few months after, so I had to find a mechanic. “This shop is terrible. I took my Dodge to have a transmission rebuild and it was stolen from their shop. I found it a week later and they did not take responsibility for the damage to my truck. You can take your car and if it is stolen, you yourself have to pay for the damage.”
“I bought a used Chevy Traverse 2016 with 100k on it. After about 6 months the car was accelerating sluggishly and I noticed a shudder at various times during acceleration and when maintaining highway speeds. There were no codes indicating a problem.
My normal mechanic replaced the transmission fluid and thought that might help. It didn't help and things got worse including a couple hard shifts if I wasn't gentle with it. My mechanic quoted me $5800 (ouch!) for a new transmission and torque converter however they recommended I take it to Chuck and Larry's since they are specialists.
It was the best recommendation they could have given. Chuck and Larry's staff were incredibly knowledgeable. They spent several hours diagnosing the problem (having the transmission fluid changed by my mechanic didn't help). They determined that likely all I needed was a new torque converter. They also mentioned that while they had the car apart they could fix an oil leak that was giving me problems.
All said and done it was a couple days and $2700 for the torque converter and oil leak fix. It's been 2 months and the car drives like a whole new vehicle. I saved $3000 and I don't have to top off the oil every week.”
“I took my 2019 Chevy Colorado to a dealer and he told me I needed a new $8,000 transmission. You only had 82,000 mi on it. It had the transmission shudder like they all do. A friend told me about knudson transmission. They explained the problem with all the eight speed Chevy transmissions and he fixed it for less than 700 bucks. So far it's running better than it ever has. I can't say enough good words for Knudson transmission.”

“Outstanding service! Needed a tow to an auto repair shop. While the wait was longer than I would have liked, once Tim arrived it was so fast and easy. His tow truck had accessories that could fully lift an all wheel drive suv, with out being a flatbed truck. Less than 15 minutes to hook up car, 10 minute drive to repair shop and 10 minutes off the truck. Quick and painless. My roadside assistance chose Tim’s Amoco for the service but I will use them again if I ever need towed again. A+”

“I've always had good experiences at this locationn however today as I arrived home after my oil change I noticed oil on my windshield. Upon further inspection there was oil spilled on my hood under the hood. There were greasy handprints on my front bumper and on my driver side door. Not thrilled about it but everything else went well.”
“My wife’s friend, a single mother, power steering broke. She went to a shop in Ankeny. They diagnosed the problem for
$154. They quoted $1650 to fix it parts and labor.
We called Tim’s mechanic. He said bring it in and quoted about $650 to do the repairs, plus parts cost.
Tim’s mechanic found that the only problem was a bad high pressure hose and the repair ended costing about $425 parts and labor.
Tim’s BP is an honest broker. The only shop I will ever use and recommend. That mother needs every penny these days.

“I had a great experience here with Joe (who I believe is the manager). My car stalled while driving and wouldn't start, so AAA towed it here.
They were initially thinking they'd need to do a diagnostic run and I was prepared to pay for it. But they said the issue was really an oil pressure problem, and an oil change (cheaper than the diagnostic) would fix it.
I really appreciate that they chose not to charge me for something they definitely could've.
The oil change was also less expensive than my normal place, which means I now have a new normal place for my oil changes.”

“Excellent customer service. But beyond that, these are genuinely honest mechanics. Today I had every reason to believe there was something wrong with my car. It was making a weird noise that a different mechanic made me think I would have to pay $1800 to fix. When I took it to these guys for a second opinion, they told me there was truly nothing wrong they could find with the car and didn’t charge me a dime after spending a full 30 minutes looking at it. They could have made a lot of money off me today, if not the full $1800 then at least a diagnostic fee. I don’t know much about cars and was really worried about the sound. But they chose not to scam me like the last mechanic tried to. I’m very appreciative of their honesty and highly recommend coming to them!”
“The manager Nicole was super friendly. This place is awesome. I didn’t have an appointment but they didn’t have a problem getting me right in. Replaced 2 tires and all my brakes. I got my car back the same day! I highly recommend this place.”
“These guys are awesome. Every time I go to them I am impressed with their depth of knowledge and care for the customer. They will explain the issue and give you options as well as advice to prevent future issues. They aren't pushy with upsells and genuinely want to help you.
I've even gone in a couple of times with minor things like a consistent airing issue on a single tire and they helped me diagnose and air it back up,
when I offered to pay they told me not to worry about it. They really are the best!”

“McManus opened about the same time I moved to Altoona 27 years ago. The business remains in the family as well. Mechanics come and go from shops but here I’ve had the same mechanics work on my cars for years. Many times we’ve discussed options, needs, and cost. Never once have I felt they’ve tried to do a repair I didn’t need. They’ve also referred me to dealerships when a repair is under warranty and I wasn’t aware. I recommend this shop.”
