One of two customers today. I was told to come in and another wanted to adopt a dog. No one came to the door after pounding and ringing the bell. No one answered the phone. The dog customer left for another shelter after asking me on a recommendation, myself having to use a walker left as well. Not the first incident

Extra nice staff members. Very informative and kind and genuine she is the soul reason for 4 stars. She provided literature. But we had came to walk thru and see animals. This facility does not provide that service. Most of dogs were fostered out. Which stinks. But no one's fault.

Everyone was so friendly & helpful with my adoption. No small dogs at other shelters just pit bulls. So happy with my little guy!

They are a no-kill shelter. They had quite a few animals in foster homes. We found a 4 month old dog who was a good fit for our family.

Participated in the fifteenth but last motorcycle benefit ride. It was a nice jaunt for about an hour through the Boone County roads. Appreciate the effort and sorry itythe last, didn't know it until the ride announcement ksu. What I saw of the facility itself which was just the lobby as I didn't know tours were an option until it was mentioned at ksu seems like a well designed purposed facility. Saw several pet intro rooms, a cat room and the lobby which was more spacious than I expected. The ride coordinators were cordial but not real social chatty, all business no extra effort to get to know and take an advantage of the opportunity.. Seemed like a lot if riders had their own cliques going, I had to introduce myself to my co-rider and that was it. I thought motorcyclists were supposed to be friendly but the vibe I got was a little blah. A little better at a ride elsewhere but not much. But thanks for the last benefit ride, got it in and to the police escort they did a good job.

I had a good experience here. I found the staff to be friendly and welcoming. They let us spend quite a bit of time with our favorite dog in their outdoor area to make sure it was a good fit, then we did a trial night. It's important to note that this is not a city/county animal control facility - you don't just show up, pick a dog, and leave on a first-come first-serve basis. My suggestion is to treat it like a job interview for a job you really want and so you're trying to impress the hiring manager. You're essentially being interviewed and evaluated by the staff/director so they can make the best placement possible for the well-being of the dog. You may be competing against other people.

I volunteered here from November 2021 - March 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the people here and taking care of the cats! My time here was short because I ended up getting a full-time job in Kentucky, but I came back up here shortly after moving away to adopt my cat Lizzie! ?
