I received an invoice saying I used 100 miles more than what I used, charging $100 more than it should. Is this a joke? I sent an email contesting the price and haven't heard back yet. Avoid if you can, they are going to rip you off.

I reserved a cargo van online, which was pretty seamless. When I arrived, the check out was okay as well... the desk person had me take photos of my DL on a link he sent to my phone. The check out and check in went very smooth and the prices are very reasonable. The reason for my 1 star review is the lack of upholding customer service values. As we all know, customer service is what keeps customers coming back- and I will certainly not be coming back to this location. A day after returning my rental I got my invoice and noticed a $20 convenience fee. On my contract it was stated that this fee would be charged only if I did not complete the web check in upon turn in of the vehicle. Which I did. When I called corporate, they told me the fee applied because the GPS said I was .95 miles away, which is absurd because I was at most 15 feet away parked on the street where I was told to park after hours. Corporate said they don't issue refunds and I needed to call the store. Then I called the franchise and the first time I was hung up on. The second time, I didn't even have to say who I was or a contract number and the receptionist already knew what I was talking about- it seems like a common scheme to omit information upon check out in order to tack on the $20 convenience fee. What I was most appalled about, he kept disrespectfully telling me "read your contract! It's in the contract! You didn't do a web check-OUT". I asked him well; I spent 10 minutes at your desk; I assumed that was the check out. He said NO READ YOUR CONTRACT!! All in all, I am always very conscious of language barriers affecting the instructions and clarity of transactions, and I am positive that the clerk THOUGHT his instructions were clear, but he was obviously wrong. This review is to highlight his disrespect and brutal disregard for basic customer service principles. I know it's just $20 but I feel deceived. P.S. for corporate purposes I recommend a small "check list" for customer reference. I.e. "don't forget! 1. Check out on the app 2. Fuel your car before returning 3. Complete web check in" Easy.

Well what to say about this place. Went in there to get a U-Hal, guy talking on his phone for last 20 minutes and didn't care if he has a customer in front of him. After his so important phone call he had the attitude to tell me to go somewhere else. Whatever you do not use this U-hall service.

I picked up a van that had a quarter of a tank of gas. I was charged $7 for gas upon returning the van even though I returned it at a quarter of tank. I took pictures as proof and was still told I owed for gas. I had to ask the attendant to stop the couple who was about to drive off in the truck. We both looked at it and it read a quarter of a tank. I am very disappointed to know that Uhaul is ripping people off like this. The attendant refunded me but said that the truck was slightly on an incline downward and that is why the gas read incorrect. I took my pictures while the truck was leveled. I will never rent at this location again and will ALWAYS be sure that my final charges are correct before leaving. Also they take money under the table. I paid $7 cash for a dolly because I forgot to add it at time of rental. It was not included on my final receipt so that means it was put in somebody's pocket.

I picked up a truck at this location using the online self-pickup system. The truck had not been cleaned so the bed was full of dirt and debris, including nails and screws. The truck was old, with over 150,000 miles on the odometer, and had some minor exterior damage not already marked by the managers that we had to document. The online self-pickup (and self-return) process is slow and cumbersome. There are too few parking spaces for trucks at this location, and the spaces are sized for regular cars, so we had to park in a spot with only inches between cars on the left and right of the truck.

Everything was fine until I went to go return the truck. I tried to return the truck at 8am (which they were not open for, despite various sources saying that was the opening time), and when I couldn't get into the driveway to leave the vehicle, I called Customer Services. They told me to park the truck nearby and leave a note saying where it was parked. An employee called me the next day telling me they couldn't find the truck and that I was going to be charged for an extra full day. Was also charged for a dolly that I never got. Not renting from here again

On their page it's says they open at 8, but I've been waiting past and hour and they're still not open. Idiots.

I rented a cargo van, furniture dolly, and some other things from this U-Haul dealer earlier this week. I was very pleased. It seems they have a whole fleet of new cargo vans. Mine had less than 500 miles on it and was super clean. Unlike a much older cargo van I rented from a different U-Haul location earlier this month, the new U-Haul van I got from 640 W MacArthur Blvd had electronically adjustable side mirrors (not ones that had to be adjusted manually), a rearview mirror that displayed very helpful images and guides from a back up camera, and a radio. The staff at U-Haul on 640 W MacArthur Blvd was friendly and competent. Also, this U-Haul location is just a short walk from MacArthur BART. So it's very easy to get to by public transit. (I took Emery Go-Round.) This is especially important since parking your personal vehicle near BART is almost impossible.
