Love, LOVE, L O V E Spenga! This is the first workout that I actually enjoy doing, even after a long day of work. The gym is extremely clean, and smells amazing. The music always gives me a burst of energy and gets me in the zone to kill my workout. The workouts kick your butt, so you are surely burning calories, even after the class! It makes me sad to read comments like the ones that are below. It is so sad that we live in a world now, where we allow social media and others personal experiences affect ours. Cyber bullying is real, and although I teach my kids to not bully others, it’s disgusting that even grown adults to it. They do it because they get a rise out of ruining or hurting others. No one knows what really happened, but to be honest, I can care less. If owning a business was so easy, then why isn’t everyone doing it? Especially in Valparaiso! We live and learn. There’s no manual to this life.If you want a great work out, with high energy and are there for the actual work out do yourself a favor and join.If you want to stay on your phone and read negative comments because it gives you energy, then stay where you are because your energy will drain ours at Spenga.

I wouldn’t recommend this franchise to my worst enemy. This specific franchise location was a waste of my money. The franchise owner consistently talks down to everyone INCLUDING THE CONSUMERS! (Us!)Orange theory is better!Unlimited is $139 per month whereSPENGA unlimited is $200!!!$60 of savings for 12 months is a total savings of $720!I am utterly disappointed with my time and experiences at this location.

At first, I was very eager about my Spenga journey. I joined in September. I would easily burn 400 calories within the hour. The atmosphere was very welcoming as I saw people of all shapes and ages in my classes. But then November came and I heard my favorite instructors quit….. i had just left a toxic work environment a month prior and somehow I feel like this is a similar situation between the owner and her former employees. I feel like Spenga would thrive better under new ownership.

Awesome place! I’m always excited to workout here. Such a great environment where I feel motivated to do my best. I’ve been working out for years, and I honestly feel like I get a workout that is incomparable to any other!!!

I've been a member of Spenga Valpo since they opened one year ago in November 2022. I love the 20/20/20 workout format. Staff has always been very friendly, high energy workouts with great music, and gym is very clean.

General:- Lockers are nice- Equipment is new- They do provide gum and bathroom amenities which is nice.- I don’t have children but some classes do offer childcare (I initially thought it was free but heard it is $5 per child per class).- I like how the app will tell you if there’s only a few spots left- Light switch placement in the studio is weird. As they were designing the studio, this is something that should have been taken into consideration. The light for spin is by the door so the instructor has to get off the bike to turn on/off lights. By the yoga portion, the light is in the back so they’ll walk through all the mats trying not to step on someone to flip off the lights for a minute at the end of the session.- Having showers in studio would be nice for those that need to go to work afterwards.- Staff turnover seems to be high.- I’ve experienced rude front desk staff when discussing a freeze to my account.- If I had a penny for every time they say the word “crew” I’d be rich.- Carly is the best! None of the comments below about instructors apply to her.Spin:- Sometimes equipment doesn’t work (ie: tv isn’t turned on or they can’t get the zones on the tv)- Bikes will randomly show zero watts and rpms during the workout even though you’re pedaling.- Some instructors put the music on so loud you can’t hear the rpms or zones they’re calling out.- I would be nice if your zones were on the bike on a tablet (like Orangetheory) so you don’t have to constantly look down at the bike and then up to the tv.Strength:- Weights only go up to 40 lbs so for men or exercises where you need a heavier weight (sumo squats) they’re not able to challenge you.- Most instructors aren’t good about correcting form or challenging you with heavier weights.- Some instructors miss the timing cues.- Some instructors can’t perform some of the exercises properly (i.e. pushups).Yoga:- It’s half basic yoga, half stretching. If you’re looking for true yoga, this isn’t it.- For the stretching portion, it would be nice to focus on the muscles used during strength and not random muscles.

I’ve been a member since the doors opened in November 2022. I absolutely love the concept of 20 minutes of spin, 20 minutes of strength training, and 20 minutes of yoga. For me, I consider it an important appointment that I cannot miss. Oh yes, and they offer childcare at ridiculously low rates. Four dollars per hour, are you kidding me! I love the way that I look & feel- you will too!

Be cautious.I was a Founding Member who waited months for it to open. Was recently on medical leave due to a necessary surgery. I received e-mails and calls hounding me to update my card on file once that medical hold expired(Owner stated corporate policy).I did, then found out all classes were cancelled due to a staff walk out. Which stinks because they had the best Instructors. I was able to cancel without 30 days notice but they wont refund my monthly fee even though I cancelled my membership after I updated my card on file. When I spoke with the Owner, he was apologetic & filled me in a little bit on what happened. Which, I appreciated. I thought I'd be getting my money back since it was still pending in my bank account.Payment ended up going through. I sent an e-mail correspondence & whoever handles his correspondence seems rude & arrogant. Saying, " We are not issuing refunds unless there were sessions that you weren't able to take due to a cancellation. Your membership dues was paid late on 11/11/23. I can offer a refund for the session that was cancelled on 11/11/23. We are open with sessions available for your utilization. As a courtesy, we have waived the 30 day notice for you therefore your last bill date was 10/30/23. SPENGA Valpo"Again, very different from my conversation with the owner who showed concern for me having surgery & asked I consider them again in the future. Sad because I loved the instructors but it's too much drama for a gym. Especially if those instructors are all gone. I don't wish anyone any ill will. However, my conversation with the owner & this correspondence show two different things. I am a woman of God & pray for the best for those who who have goodness in their hearts.

The workout and instructor was great. But giving one star because the owner, Jamie, is absolutely terrible. She made me feel extremely rushed to leave my TWO YEAR OLD in the child care room when my child was clearly uncomfortable with me leaving. I was never told it was an additional $5 per child EVERY session (I have two kids, so an additional $10 every session on top of the monthly membership fee which can be up to $169/month I believe it is—apologies if that number is off by $10/month). So she’s charging outrageous prices and not even including the child care cost in those prices. She was extremely pushy for me to sign up and told me it was worth the price and no other place will give me the same workout. If this business was under new owners, it would thrive. But she was so utterly rude and so insincere about my children—all she’s worried about is money & that’s how you clearly lose a business. Hopefully someone buys it from her and I can try to sign up with new ownership! The idea and work out is great & I could see myself loving it. But I will NEVER give Jamie any more of my money.

Spenga has always been and will continue to be an upstanding company and the Best.WERKout.Ever!! You will not get a better workout in a cleaner facility with Spenga-trained, outstanding instruction! I started as a member in Illinois and have visited several Spenga locations across the country. They all provide top-notch, quality instruction in a clean facility.Yes, there are fees for cancelling late, but that holds me accountable and ensures I have a bike if I'm running late. I use those fees to motivate me - and it WERKS! And yes, it's more expensive than your average gym, but you get a lot for your money - it's a boutique fitness studio - not a gym.I've been a member for over 3 years and it has changed my life in a hugely positive way!! I've seen instructors come and go, it happens, but quality instruction continues to be provided. I am so thankful there is a wonderful facility here in Valparaiso!

The workout is good and the facility itself is clean and modern. The majority of the instructors and staff were overall pretty amazing. But this location has a high employee turnover rate… I quit a while ago due to negative vibes. I edited my review as such.

SPENGA is such a fun all-around work out! I love the circuit concept of spin to weights to yoga all within an hour. The teachers and staff are so welcoming, and walk you through what to expect each step of the way. I look forward to every class!
